Fresh Mackerel are a bit thin on the ground at the moment, and probably another couple of months before we see them in any numbers .........

Launch at Rock ...........

As Jeff said, that North coast can be very limiting, but there is some excellent Bass fishing.

I went out on the South Devon coast yesterday (LymeBay) on a friends boat , and had to get 42Nm out before we found wrecks with decent Pollock ............

Yup[emoji106]looking at the Yacht Club at Rock, they have moorings by the day. We’re not going until September so the fishing will have picked up by then.

several options for launching in Rock - on spring tides use the sailing club ramp, otherwise these is a narrow slip further along the shore - near the ferry.
i usually use the beach, the upper limits are very firm - reverse/push the trailer down the beach below the high tide line, tie a rope onto the trailer and wait for the tide to float the boat free and drag the trailer clear of the water, Hitch up and drive away.

It involves using the beach at all tides, including spring highs

Does anyone know if you can launch into the harbour at Port Isaac? Looks like the best bet in the area.

I would definitely go for Rock, theoretically you could launch at Port Isaac but the access roads are too small and parking too difficult.
Well worth a visit at high tide, though.

Just had a reply to my enquiry, £235 for a pontoon berth for a week or £130 for a mooring. Doesn’t sound too bad after a couple of these [emoji15]Click image for larger version

Not forgetting the extra cost of insuring a moored RIB..
(if you can get it at all)

I’ve insured it before for a week on a mooring. My insurance company did it for free[emoji106]
