Poole Harbour Slipways
Me and her indoors are thinking of taking our 4.5m rib to poole Harbour and staying in one of the holiday parks for 3 nights.
I see that there is a slip at MDL which is £50, Are there any public slips or other places to access the Harbour with this smallish boat. I would need a place to park after the launch. I have a Landrover so a bit rough is ok
Also any places to stay with water access would be great
Thanks

Yes ,quite an adventure ,4.8 local to you ? ,4.8 in concarne france ?, or a 4.8 in dutch distributor? ,all were in the mix then i tendered for this 5.3 in troon and won the tender so took a trip to troon in Feb to get this one ,well happy ,little low @ 60hp on top end ,but engine only done 163 hours so reasonable start point should i decide to repower .

Although Cobbs Quay is pricier you could leave the boat on a nice safe pontoon each night and without the need to worry about tides as Cobbs is all tides available which could make your trips tide proof. If you phone Cobbs it’s not impossible they might do an early season deal.
Otherwise perhaps call Rockley as they might be able to offer something similar and that’s an almost all tides option.
Baiter is certainly doable though for single axle trailers but it’s not a particularly great slip and certainly tidal.

I heard it was full of lardy scumbags with jetskis and Fletchers. Not judging, just what I heard...

I launch a 5mt rib at Baiter with no problem.
it`s a shallow slip but is ok except for low tide.
£15 all day inc parking.
also has water tap for washing boat.

I often launch my 5M RIB at Baiter on problem, avoid low tide's be prepared to get wet and take a long tow rope if you dont fancy man handling back up the (very shallow) slipway

Rockley Park in Hamworthy has a good slip and launching at all tide states. Think a day launch with parking is about £25.

I've used both Rockley and MDL at Cobbs. Cobbs is great because you leave your boat on a pontoon so have immediate access without faff of launching and recovering every day. Plus it has fuel. Slight down side is that you can't normally store your trailer unless you find somewhere to "hide" it in the large car parks.....
Rockley slip has nowhere to park your trailer unless you can agree with the boat park to store it there. On the slip, if you time it wrong, you can be battling with the RYA sailing courses who use the slip to launch and recover together with the numerous holidaymakers crabbing! If you use the boat park, be warned they shut the it at ridiculously early times, even over bank holiday weekends in high season. You end up having to moor up three of four deep on their pontoon and then have to get back down very early in the morning to move your rib before it gets moved for you.
