Cobbs Quay Launch Fees

I asked Cobbs Quay about launching earlier this year.

They quoted £37 per launch!

I think they do a deal, where you can pay £370 for the season, with unlimited launches.

Chris.

What they probably didn't tell you (or you didnt ask?) is that that £37 includes all your parking for as long as you launch. It's worth it if you're going out for a week considering how secure the place is.

Thanks for that - will check them out - boatlaunch not as accurate as I had hoped - in particular one yard that looked promising told me they had stopped letting the public use their slip 5 yrs ago - he said they had been trying to get their place taken off boatlaunch for a long time!!! Chap wasn't very helpful either!!! Site is at Studland nr chain ferry.

F%$^king hell! That's almost as much as a hotel!
Maybe I got the work experience boy when I rang them...

Give Davis's a call then-they ARE a shitload cheaper, I've used them myself within the past month. The yard has a much better atmosphere than Cobbs too.

I'm not surprised if the guy near the chain ferry's stopped letting the public use his slip-The Studland national trust run 'slip' has a 20hp limit on it-I bet he was swamped with numpties in speedboats wanting to get to the nearby waterski area

Cobbs Quay Launch Fees

I have the literature in front of me.

Charges:
£37.00 Daily Use inc VAT
£370 Season's use inc VAT

"Use of Slipway payment includes free DAY parking of the car and trailer - any overnight stay or longer term parking of trailer will be subject to our published tariff charges - details of which may be obtained from the Marina Office."

I have used "bold", as it appears on their info.

We are also supposed to display the boat name in the car and on the trailer (if not attached to the car).

As a former MDL berth-holder (Ocean Village & Port Hamble - not that we can launch from either of these) I have some sympathy with their logic - If the price is too low, the marina will be overrun with people like us wanting to launch our boats. On the other hand, now that I am "crossing over" from being a berth-holder (10 years with MDL) to being one of those whom they would rather discourage, I think it is a shame that there are very few safe launch places where we can happily leave our cars and trailers, whilst enjoying the use of a good ramp.

Cobbs Quay's charges for dry berthing are not a lot diffferent to being on a pontoon, which seems a bit steep to me.

Good luck with finding a suitable launch site!

Chris.
