Poole - St Malo Record attempt

A French Revenger pilot wants to create a record from Poole to St Malo in 2009. What other records exist between England and France ?

The stuffing at Trafalgar must have been a record at the time.

Which looks like it will run next year, so that might be another outing for him as well.

Strange route for record?

This seems a strange route for a record so has probably not been 'set' officially.

It would be good if we could have an official list of records and maybe an unofficial top gear style board where you can post your own times for set routes.

Here are some suggestions

Needles - Cherbourg outer breakwater
Needles - St Peter Port
Needles - Braye
St Helier - St Peter Port
Gorey - Carteret
Round Isle of Wight
Round any Island you may wish to circumnavigate (my definition it would have to be habitated to avoid having too many little islands)

Oh I like it The RIB.net leader board. Times could be verified with GPS data or webcams perhaps?

Can there be two tables? One for time and one for fuel used?

Its a good distance over interesting water and the paperwork is easier than a UK - France route.

Poole - Cherbourg

I remember this record being held by a couple of friends in the early 90's. The brothers Norton, in a Boston Whaler 21 Outrage with twin 90 2/strokes!!

Does anyone know if it still stands?

I think a couple of guys on a pedalo with a crate of Red Bull beat that one in the 2000's.

I had in mind a time/fuel table, rather than a desert draining, gas guzzling, carb scoring - propelled by exhaust gasses - type thing!

Er No the fabio rib that was in RB8 has the record average speed approx 82 mph 50 odd mins.

Which Buzzi RIB do you mean? Thomas Vandammes's or Andy Mackateer's?

And who's recognising this record - RYA or UIM?

Record

Bass Boy

I remember when that record was set in the boston whaler etc.

Fabio did it in a 50ft Rib but I cant remember the name or what year it was set.

Unfortunately were no where fast enought to beat that.

Mike Deacon holds the record for round the islands etc, he did if i remember correctly, isle of wight, alderney, guernsey, jersey, Scilly Isles and back to Isle of Wight in one hit.

Cheers
Julian

Andy's, although it was Buzzi's when Pascoe set the current record!
