Portable fuel tank left in locker

Hi

Ive just sold my small sib and bought a slightly bigger rib , there is a locker up front that fits my 22l portable fuel tank in.
With the sib im used to packing every thing away and storing the tank in the garage , is there any reason i cant leave the fuel tank in the locker of the rib and just remove when filling?

Thanks

Thats perfect!

So vent screw tightly shut when left stored in the locker? I used to open my now and then in the garage to let the pressure out.
Cheers

I would think that most people would leave their fuel tank in their RIB.

The problem with fuel tanks and boats is accumulation of petrol fumes in enclosed hulls. A spark could blow your boat up.

With an open boat there is, although still a small risk, enough ventilation.

Also towing the boat will provide sufficient air circulation to remove the fumes.

I remove the fuel tank if I am working in the boat as a spark from an electric drill could ignite the fumes.

Anyway, what a way to die. Flying through the gates of hell on a flaming RIB.

So with your tank left in the locker and not in use you have the vent screw shut tent?

Flaming Ribs sounds tasty 😎
