Possible eBay scam
Hi folks,
I'm looking to upgrade my little RIB to something a bit bigger. There is a 4.8m Tornado listed at the moment on eBay, in Skipton, N. Yorks.
I have been unable to contact the buyer to arrange a viewing.
The listing is identical to one that sold in Belfast just two weeks ago for £3410 and now it's on an auction. Oh, and they want paying by transfer before it's collected.
Here is the listing - Tornado 4.8mtr RIB Boat | eBay
I'm not saying it is dodgy, just that I smell a rat......buyer beware!

Possible eBay scam
Hi Guys,
This is my old RIB that I sold 6 months ago to a guy down in Plymouth, the photo's were taken outside my garage by me!
I know that he put it up for sale only a month or so after he bought it but don't know what happened to it after that.
Hope this helps any potential interested parties?

My last rib was re-advertised before the first (genuine) listing by me had been removed after the sale.

Just got this from ebay.
We think eBay account sl****97 has been used without the account owner's permission, so we're now restoring it to them. To protect this member's privacy, we can't share any more details about their account.
People sometimes misuse eBay accounts by sending emails from them. In these emails, they invite you to buy or sell outside eBay, or ask questions that have nothing to do with eBay. They do this in the hope that you'll respond and give them your email address.
We strongly recommend you treat emails from this member with caution and don't respond if you hear from them again.

And the two cars you can see in the photos both have UK plates, not Northern Irish plates! Same email address as the above scam too.

I reckon a lot of members on here are reporting him but he just seems he hacks another account and off he goes again!
I feel for the people who fall for these scams I mean its challenging enough for people who know what they're talking to avoid them.

I've emailed him again as I did when he last posted it up, I complimented him on a nice garden in the picture and pointed out it was my garden, I also ask him how stupid he was trying to sell such a high profile boat that clearly wasn't his to sell
Sent from my iPad using RIB Net

I came across a different scam when I was searching for a rib. I saw a boat on eBay and decided to do some background research on the model. This lead me to an advert for the same model of boat but with a very low asking price - perhaps a third of the true value. I emailed to ask about it and got a story that it was the deceased grandfather's boat and located in Cardiff but the seller was somewhere else. I then looked at the photographs and realised they were the same as the ebay boat. The ebay boat was located in the Midlands and seemed genuine. It was clearly a scam but I could not see how it could work unless the boat was bought without viewing and money transferred before collection. Or did I miss something?
