Powerboat Scotland!

Hi All,

I have recently been asked to take a active part in promoting Powerboat Scotland which is an intiative from R.Y.A Scotland. We are looking at running an event toward's the end of Aug-Sept at which we are eager to have session's and workshop's in the following area's that were identified at various powerboat forum's last year.

· Rough Water Handling session – shore based and practical

· Engine and hull maintenance courses

· Coaching Skills – working with both adults and youths

· Environmental Best Practice

· Trailer driving and boat launching

· Try different types of powerboat

· All workshops to be open to all powerboaters/ motor boaters

· Teaching girls/ Girls Only powerboating sessions

· Rescuing modern dinghies

· Practical flare session

· Fault finding/ trouble shooting workshop

· GPS/ Electronic navigation workshop

· More practical sessions, more interactive sessions, and lots of water required!

Due to geographical location it had been voiced that Larg's or Port Edgar might be preferable due to the fact that they both have workshop's and classroom's however we would be open to other suitable location's suggested. The possibilty of a cruise could also be incorporated into this.

We would like to hear from you on your views for example where you would like it held how long ie a day or weekend event.

We would also like to hear from you if you can provide any of the workshops listed and costing for the event

All ideas welcomed

I'd be interested in some of these workshops if they were held at Largs.

I think day courses would be better rather than trying to span them out over the weekend.

All joking aside, sonds interesting, and would half agree with the day trip trip idea, but I am equally easy access to both locations. Someone travelling long distance might prefer a 2 day to get best value from the journey?

Topics all sound good. Would the plan be to run a selection, or have them all happening & participants could pick & choose on the day? There's a lot to cram into even a weekend on that list.....

Options

The general intention would be to run the workshop's and practical's for say maybe 90 mins that way you could attend several over the day or the weekend some may last shorter than other's and would mainly be geared toward's giving an introduction and brief overview of the subject with helpfull tips rather than a full blown course. Other things would be demonstration's from organisation's ,manufacter's dealer stand's as previously stated all idea's are wellcome

regards Col Blinky

On a serious note

1, That was voiced by females at the powerboat forum saying they would feel more comfortable attending all female session's as they sometimes felt intimidated surrounded by males on course.

2, I was instructed to include that item by the Development manager for R.Y.A Scotland
who is incidently female

3, Fair one on the previous pictures it got a giggle from me

Port Edgar for me, or if you could cater for both west and east even better, I know of 6 people at least that never attended your first conference due of the location in Largs.
