Pre Cruise Checks

Hi Chaps, I'm joining the Ribsters tomorrow for an 80nm run from Pwllheli to Aberystwth.

Prior to launching I'll be performing the following checks. Safety Gear (Flares, VHF, Anchor, Life Jackets, Tool kit) etc, Fuel & Reserve, Tube Pressure and general condition of deck fittings.

However, I'm no mechanic and have a tendancy to turn the key and expect the engine (car-boat-bike) to start and run all day. What checks should I perform on the engine (Yam 70 2st 2001).

Further, without making myself out to be a complete How are these performed.

Thanks

Right that's it. I've had enough of these jibes. I've just come off the phone from placing my order. Now lets see who has the last laugh ...

RIBase
Weather and tides if relevant?
Charts and navigation waypoints
Radio channels used by the others
Mobile phone nos used by the others punched into yours
Got all your clothing and other gear with you
Sunscreen, water, snacks
Have you told anyone your routing and timings?
Check in when you arrive with whoever is "watching you"
Blimey....the list is endless innit?

Wish I was there

I'm sorely tempted by the forecast.......

40 miles down to Holyhead

40 round to Pwllheli?

Any particular navigational nasties?

Do I need a large scale chart (I have Irish Sea).
