Pro 15 with Suzuki 250

As I am not Zodiac fan and even less fan of Suzuki I want to have your opinion on the following for a good friend of mine who is a proud owner of the package.

Zodiac Pro 15 with Suzuki 250, prop 16X24,5 (6.100 RPM WOT), the engine is offset by 3" and performs well not leaning to a side on high speed.

WOT speed is around 47 knoths

Is this speed satisfactory ?

For a boat that is under 21' long overall I would have expected more speed, but I am not familiar with the normal speed of this hull/power combination.

Gulp !!

Well considering that the boat is rated to a max of 150hp and the paper work sugests top speed of 52mph/85kph i would of expected it to go a tad faster on a 250 after the transoms been ripped off !!

Yup, was thinking the same myself. Max recommended power is only 115hp!!

Surely it would have been wise to check the transom pate for max allowed hp before throwing a huge lump like that on the back?!?

Is that really a 250hp? Looks too small to be a lump that size?

No way is that a 250. The DF 250 is a monster, that's a 140 or new 150.

As said before personally I haven´t seen the package my own eyes, here are two more pics showing the beast is 250 hp.

This boat along with Valiant Vanguard powered with Honda 150 hp will be used to cruise around Iceland mid of June for charity fundraising.
Their website is www.krafturikringumisland.com this website is only in Icelandic but nevertheless worth looking at.

RIBase
Zodiac recommend 115 HP maximum for the 15 Man Pro. The maximum power allowed is 150 HP, using an extra-long shaft. The Suzuki V6 250HP weighs in at a massive 263kg.

See technical data for yourself on http://www.zodiacmarine.co.uk/the-zo...ge/pop.pro.cfm

There goes his 5 year hull warranty... (literally)!

If it's speed he's looking for (I'm not going to mention the warranty issues!) I would put the engine up as high as it will go with those bolt holes - it will help with the torque from that beast as well!

Has he beefed it up at all?

I believe she was put 1,5" higher up and offsetted by 3".
The owner will read about it here and if I am wrong he will contact me and I will rectify the information.

Regardless to warranty issues and what to do and what not to do, Himmi the proud owner of this RIB had previously Pro 9 powered with Suzuki 140 four stroke without any problems.

By living in Vestmannaeyjar "Westman Island" boats are their recreational vehicle and they have many surrounding islands to travel to

Reason for bringing up the question was to hear from you folks if Pro 15 should possibly reach higher speed.

Took the liberty to attach few pics from Himmi´s playground

I think the question was answered earlier in the thread, albeit in not great detail...

Seriously though if h'e only getting the quoted speed for a 150hp and he's running another 100hp on top of that then I'd say there's definately something wrong. Is the 250hp new or has it been run on another boat previously? If so, how well did it perform on the other boat?
