In all honesty I hope they do!
The fact that you can buy reasonably priced UK built RIBS is only good news, threads like this one can hopefuly help to push up the Kwality of Prosport ribs

the yellow rib is a copy of an early crompton 7.8 made in the channel islands with henshaws tubes i think although the tubes would have been fitted by the boat builder not henshaws . as to prosports tubes TIDEL ,(TILLEY INFLATABLE DESIGN & ENGINEERING LTD) do now make them ,prosport fit them , using the same materials ect as such companies as osprey and scorpion .the previous manufacturer was olmec(ribraff) who worked for me whilst at ribeye initially in the GRP department under a different manager and then for a few months in the tube department until he decided he was qualified enough to set up his own business .hopefully this will clarify things for you all .

I have had a Prosport rib for just over 2 years and have to say I am very pleased with it. Mine is a 6.5m (measures almost 7m) with Suzuki 140. I have crossed the channel in it, ski and wakeboard behind it and also I teach in it.

Clarity
OK, let's get some true clarification here.
1. I did work for Ribeye
2. Paul Tilley worked for Ribeye
3. I worked under Paul Tilley as he was the manager of the tube dept.
4. I did not work under Paul Tilley's company, never have, never will.
5. I left ribeye having gained the experience necessary to build ribs as a whole and not just the components. Mr Tilley was put in charge of the Ribeye manufacturing as a whole after Mark o' halloran left. Shortly after Ribeye moved all of their manufacturing to South Africa. The truth speaks for itself.

Ed,
What was the name of the chap who used to work for you? Didn't he go to work for Paul at about the same time as Paul started producing the tubes for ProSport ?
I'm only taking the piss, cause I'm constantly amazed at the incestuous nature of the "marine trade"..... Who used to work for who... and what boat hulls beget what.....

I can find little wrong with my Prosport, The engine blew in Northern Ireland mid July and had a replacement fitted by the lads at Red Bay Ribs. Yesterday I was in Northern Ireland to collect it after the engine was fitted and returned to the Isle of Man through the worst seas I have ever been through, the trip would normaly take 3.5 Hrs yesterday it took 5.5hrs. The Prosport did everything that was asked of it and more, Jason sells the rib as having “good sea keeping” he is right, as for the tubes, mine hold pressure and seldom need topping up and have internal seams, so my experience with the Prosport is good and would I buy another or change to another manufacturer, after yesterday in particular, it would have to be a Prosport. With one change though, the rib needs trunks instead of the ball valve bailers, I fitted trunks at the start of July, and needed them yesterday and during the run north in July. I think Jason has this change on the cards.

Good modification.. one other question? Where is the air intake on your engine box?

Indeed...
....one of the guy's who worked for me did go off to join Mr Tilley, and it was 'round about the time that Mr Tilley started doing the tubes for Pro-sport again.

The engine box is now sealed but looks no different to how it was produced. I have fitted a snorkel for the air intake. Although the box is not fully watertight is better than it was. I like the low engine box (I keep my wetline tender on it) but it did give problems in a bad sea.

looks like i have upset ribraff , he is quite right ribeye moved their production to south africa for cheapness of manufacture whilst i was in charge of the production we used such people as steve davis for his moulding knowledge and andy clarke for his rigging knowledge as i do not profess to be knowledgeable enough about either but could manage production with their help . i would not want to give reasons as to why prosport changed tube manufacturer jason is the person to ask !!!

It's interesting what you learn on RIBnet. If i've followed this correctly the early ProSport tubes were made by Olmnec? I've seen Olmnec tubes and been impressed, i've also heard good things about their work. At some point i beleive they have / did make Osprey tubes?
