To be fair, if it’s 5 litres or 40 litres that suddenly go bang in your car, it’s not going to make much difference. As long as it’s carried in appropriate containers* I can’t see the problem.

*A lemonade bottle is NOT an “appropriate” container.

ADR*1.1.3.1(a)*states that the provisions laid down in*ADR*do not apply to:

The carriage of dangerous goods by private individuals where the goods in question are packaged for retail sale and are intended for their personal or domestic use or for their leisure or sporting activities provided that measures have been taken to prevent any leakage of contents in normal conditions of carriage. When these goods are flammable liquids carried in refillable receptacles filled by, or for, a private individual, the total quantity shall not exceed 60 litres per receptacle and 240 litres per transport unit. Dangerous goods in*IBCs, large packagings or tanks are not considered to be packaged for retail sale.

From the .gov website it does mention elsewhere about demountable tanks being legal to fill for private use

Your definition of 'Tanks' is probably wrong. By 'tanks' they mean a fuel tanker, not a removable fuel tank.

The text is refering to large tanks and uses an IBC as an example. It says tanks below 60l are acceptable & considering most demountable tanks are 25 or 30 ltrs at most then filling them would appear to be acceptable from reading the guidance

It doesn't, it's using both tanks AND packages qualifications in the example (an IBC is an IBC, not a tank, and is covered by the packages module of ADR qualifications).
Quote:
What is IBC packaging?
An intermediate bulk container (IBC) is a type of container that is used to transport liquids, pastes and solids. An intermediate bulk container can be made out of many different materials. It is termed “intermediate” because it is bigger than a drum, but smaller than a tank.
Removable fuel tanks are a totally different thing.

Thats the point my original post was trying to make, demountable tanks used for leisure purposes can be filled & carried up to 60l in each tank (not that I've ever seen a 60l portable tank) or multiples of tanks up to 240l in any vehicle they are exempt from adr rules. Presumably a bit like you cant tow a trailer over 7m but a boat length is unrestricted.
Special rules apply to allow certain activities to continue without breaking normal rules

Under deck tank and trunking in. Where the trucking comes out the deck at the stern we will be making a rectangular box to act as a “manifold” type thing, there will be 3 witches hats on it. One for engine controls, one for steering pipes, one for the A Frame electrics/cables. Click image for larger version

It’s not looking like this season Mat. Not long until the deer season starts for me then it’s basically year over.

Thankyou for showing more pictures ,progress looks good ,just curiosity (and not wanting to start the great tank debate off again ) what size is that tank ?.
Only other thoughts ,please consider casting those witches hats into the fires of hell ,engine needs yam conduit kit ,steering cables will come with thru panel grommets and i had great success tapping adaptaflex end into my fibreglass en suite and then also tapping out the pipe closing plug in the base of the A frame
I am 100 % sure you have forgotten more about this rebuild game than I know ,however it never hurts to suggest maybe,s and people do become a little blinkered when the word "Ribcraft " gets mentioned

I hear what you are saying re the witches hats, I used the term loosely. I will be using rigging kits as used on the Humber.

I have used witches hats and rigging hose with great success before now although these were in the console.

The tank is 70 litres. There are a few factors that came in to play when deciding on the tank. There is very little space below the deck in this boat so the tank needs to be very low profile and the availability of off the shelf low profile tanks is limited, a custom tank would be the way to go but at double the cost of a plastic one at some point you have to put the brakes on. Secondly the quality and cost of fuel is a concern, I’d rather not have gallons of expensive fuel going off below the deck, in a perfect world you would empty the tank as much as possible during the last cruise of the season but who lives in that world? A lot of my cruising is sub 80 miles and I’ve got to pass a petrol station no matter what slipway I go to so capacity isn’t an issue.

Project Ribcraft 585

Anchor locker done away with, it was hopeless anyway. Deck glassed in over.

Console has had a sheet of 18mm marine ply glassed in to allow mounting of electrics. The back of the helm and central controls has had the same treatment.
