Proud new owner

Finally was able to upgrade my Pro Open 500 (but still going to keep the old girl) to a 2009 Pro Open 650 w/ Yamaha F150. She has all the gadgets on board. Really quite happy! Which is good given that RIBS4SALE beat me to the 6.5m Gemini w/ Suzuki 300!!

Here is Trident (named after the 1902 Seawanhaka Cup defender) on day 1 in her new livery:

Been considering changing my 550 for a 650, look forward to hearing more.

The 650 is FAR more stable. Especially w/ fuel tank in the hull. Had her out on Aug 21 2016 in Kingston, ON in 35+ knots and heavy seas. (These conditions would be overly trying for the Pro Open 500.) She handled the seas w/ aplomb and kept us relatively dry while trying to follow some crazy sailors trying to survive in those same conditions.

Furthermore, compared to a 500 or 550, taking medium seas at speed is NO problem whatsoever.

Therefore, I'd strongly recommend upgrading if you're looking for a more stable ride.

Nice boat, how is it with the F150? I just picked up a bare 650 Pro Open and have to choose between an F115 or F150.

MINIMUM 150 for the torque off the line. My friend has the same 650 with a 225 hp (which is a bit much in my opinion), and it gets up on a plane in under 4".

I'm no scientist but I've seen twin 70's on a 650 and I think that could also be a good way to get off the line.

Thanks for the input, I will definitely go with the F150.

Ive had a few similar sized ribs but this layout of the Pro Open 650 may be my favorite so far. Great seating in the back and a ton of storage everywhere!

What year?

Late model hulls can get a special exemption for a 175hp.

The current US built Pro Open 650's will break the 50 mph mark with a Yamaha F150. However if not trimmed right they will chime walk. That is the biggest complaint I have heard over that model rib. Otherwise a great boat and a ton of fun for an experienced operator.

It's a 2001. I just looked at the ID plate and it says a max of 175.

It's just a bare-bones hull right now. missing a few small things and the rear bench cushions. I will have pics up soon.
