Public Liability Insurance

Am looking to use the boat for a company teambuilding day (basically as a ferry to an island and also do some boat trips). The RIB is fully insured with a leisure policy with NU and they are happy to cover me to use it for this event (as long as I don't make any money from it), however there is the issue of Public Liability Insurance. Basically to cover anyone damaging themselves when on the boat.

Anyone know who could offer this cover for a "one-off" event? Our company PLI does cover any marine type activities.

After trawling through Ribnet posts I have tried:
Bishop Skinner - Leisure only and no PLI offered
Heath Lamert - Will get back to me
Porthcawl - Guy is not in until tue that knows about this!
events-insurace.co.uk - not marine use
Cheers - will not offer PLI as standalone.

Anyone got any good contacts?

Thanks,
Al

Spoke to a really helpful guy at Heath Lambert who was genuinely interested in ensuring that he was doing the right thing rather than just selling a policy - highly recommended to deal with!

In essence - probably a lot more hassle than it's worth for a one-off teambuilding day! It would involve meeting the local coding standards (MCA or equiv) etc as the boat would be viewed as being used commercially.

Cheers
Al.

Al, I would have thought it would be easier to hire a RIB and skipper for the day, let a professional take all the hassel of the regultaions

I actually spoke to 2 people - Made initial contact at the Edinburgh office who said they would get someone to call me back. Someone then called back from I think the Leeds? office (could be wrong on location). He's going to email the results of his findings on Monday or Tuesday next week, even tho I indicated it likely wasn't a goer.

In each case, both people I spoke to were very helpful and courteous.

(Sorry - I'm terrible with names - can just about remember my own)
