"Quick One"
It has been a perfect day....
Spent the night in a hotel overlooking the chain ferry in Pool Harbour. Woke up to stunning views of Studland, Old Harry etc. glistening in the sun light and then took a leisurely drive to Lymington, where I ordered my new Scorpion RIB!
It will be an 8.1, with a 250 E-tec.
With a 50 kt + top speed, the name "Quick One" seems perfect too!
Delivery late April 2006.
Chris.

Thanks Guys!
Hi Scotty - The Zodiac was the tender to my last boat, which I sold in 2002.
Back to reality tomorrow - work in London!
I look forward to seeing some of you out on the water next year.
Cheers!
Chris.

Cheers Brambles!
You're obviously someone with discerning tastes!
BTW, has anyone had a problem with editing posts recently? I missed the "e" off "Poole" in my first post but wasn't able to edit it.
Regards,
Chris.

Hi Ian,
I have chosen yellow tubes for high visibility - this boat will be a bit of a missile, so I want to see and be seen!
The hull will be white with grey sections on the deck.
Seats will be white with yellow piping.
Not yet sure about the lettering or its design. I was hoping for a font or design that gives the impression of speed but I haven't seen anything yet that is quite what I am looking for. Ideas welcome!
Regards,
Chris.

Hi Pettal,
I don't think it will be too long before you see Quick One kicking around St Peter Port!
Cheers!
Chris.

Nice one Chris. Presumably you have seen Graham's own boat? We demo'd her at Ribex this year - sse pic.
Have you gone for the stepped hull?
Ian

I was out on Graham's (former) boat on Monday. It's awesome!
Very similar colour scheme. The seating colours will be different but I shall keep the same layout. I shall also have a radar arch and radar, which is where the similarity between boats ends.
Radar should be pretty useful around the Channel Islands, when seeking out cheap fuel! It does tend to get a bit foggy over there, as I am sure you know.
I have chosen the conventional hull, as I can live without the extra 3 kts or so that the stepped hull may offer (for quite a bit more cash) and I know that the Scorpion hull design is well tried, tested and loved by all.
Only 9 months to go!
Cheers!
Chris.

Sounds like a near perfect setup there Chris. Don't forget to order the trim tabs.
Radar? I'm sure a certain Welsh member will warn you about frying your brains - Codders; over to you......

I wouldn't have a boat without them!

That's why I am having a secondary arch - A "Visiball" will sit between the two arches, so the radome will be at a slightly safer height.
Chris.

Hi Roy,
I say a big yes to that! Even when the sea is calm the boat has a tendancy to lean into the wind & a quick adjustment of a tab will level her out & make the ride a lot more comfortable.
The other thing to bear in mind is that you can go out & play in some very hairy conditions in that boat & the trim tabs will make a big difference to your
progress.
I would suggest you have another demo run with Graham & watch the way he drives - constantly adjusting the trim as well as the throttle.
Enjoy the new boat!
Regards.
Ian

Good luck with the boat, Roy!
I'm sure we shall come across each other in the Solent next season. At least you don't have too far to travel to the water!
I live 100 miles away!
Regards,
Chris.
