After watching many of the Gurnards Videos (The man is an absolute Legend in my view) I am finding myself venturing further and further. I always carry 10 or 20 ltrs of spare fuel in cans but the other day I found myself on the way back to the slip with my fuel tank near empty. I still had my reserve in the cans though.
I thought however would I make it back or do I need to Anchor up and fill my tank which is inside the console. I continued on and all was ok as it happened.
I then thought about a tank that I can very quickly switch over in seconds. Also I cannot easily see my inside tank so to be honest I am not sure how much it holds but I think it is 30 ltrs.
My solution is a 25 ltr Tank in the rear of the Rib ratchet strapped to a plywood support (to clear all the cables etc in the back of my rib).
I think on longer trips I will put this in the boat and actually use this first and then switch to my main tank when it is almost empty. That way the balance of the boat should be better.
I will also still carry 10 ltr as a reserve in a can in the front locker. I suspect I will never need to use this.
My Engine is a 60 hp 2 stroke Auto Mix by the way so is a little thirsty. The oil tank in the engine is very big so no issues with carrying oil
And yes I know the back of my Rib needs a clean
