jwalker had been MIA and his absence was noticed by a few members who wondered if he was OK, Matt's recent post confirmed the worst - he has slipped off with Jambo, Brian, Rogue and the Others...
I greatly enjoyed Jeff's input to RIBnet. He had a lot of interests but always had time to point people in the right direction, around engineering problems and also his clearly loved "patch" in the Western Isles and the Cally canal. Jeff kept me right in many ways over the years - especially when I was forming my ideas for the most recent willkcraft - he encouraged me to not overthink things, which was his way of saying "calm yer heid".
I'll miss him.

Agreed. I always enjoyed “chatting” with Jeff. I did actually meeting him once too, he bought my mothers discovery off us. I knew something was up with his last post, my spidey senses were tingling. Hence my subsequent posts looking for him.
It turns out he’d been poorly for quite some time, which of course none of us knew, and certainly he will have known his days were numbered all during his last 6 months of posts.
Above all else, I think the best we can ask is to be remembered well once we’ve gone and I know Jeff will.

Sad to hear. I never met him in person, but he was very knowledgeable & was happy to share that knowledge. He said it as it was & didn’t waste words. RIP.

I didn’t know Jeff at all, other than our exchanges on the forum. Sad news indeed.

Ah, that is shit. He was definitely one of the good ones. I only physically met him briefly, and always felt a bit bad that he happened to have caught me on a bad day so I never invited him in for a cup of tea. I never did work out it Coot was actually based on a tractor cab - certainly though someone is going to end up with a very capable rib, I hope they are able to use it to go on the sorts of trips Jeff enjoyed.

No. It was always a joke that it was, but he built it all from scratch.
There was even a cheeky suggestion that it might have saved him some time and effort to buy a shed and just laminate over it with GRP next time, too.
This is the boatmad build thread, with all references to sheds, tractor cabs, and of course, The gArfish in plain sight:
