Race Numbers

Is there an internet source of boats and owners by Race Number.
ie if I see R29 whizz by, it would be nice to be able to say "Oh that's so and so in his Honda powered X-Boat" or whatever.

It's a good start Alan.
But I dont think it is exhaustive. It lists 18 boats which may be this seasons total? But I didn't see the Techno 40 for example, or Cookees Banana Shark.
Mind you all 18 were prefixed with an R (R=Rib?) so maybe there are other ribs which race in a diferent class? Or maybe the list is not complete.

Techno 40 isn't racing in any of the uk national series races so it wouldn't be listed - and we were racing in 2 litre class 3 last year (the only RIB in that class), therefore if the list was based on last years boats then we might not be listed.

All ribs that race in the RIB classes (to my knowledge we were the only ones not to) race with an R prefix except occasionally X for experimental. This only applies to National racing.

Brian,

Not many of the lists will be up to date because it's all based on who is racing at any moment in time.

Both www.biboa.com and www.extremeboat.com have lists for the RIBs and the results page on the BIBOA site (under racing) will have all the details for RIBs currently racing this season. It therefore won't have the Techno 40 (111) or R35 (started in basic races this year) or any of the boats that raced last year for example (e.g. R2 - Hot Lemon) .. It does have Cookee

I have lists for the V-24 boats, Class III 2-litre boats that race in the UK and probably have Honda as well if I look, but don't really keep up to date with OCR for example.

Why did you want it? If just for interest I'm sure I can scan the ones I've got and post them here

Mike

It was just a wide, open enquiry. Nothing specific. You know me, I have this thirst for the encyclopaedic knowledge of b*****r all. I see the odd raceboat leaping around and as I can see the race number on the side I often wonder who it is and whether I know them and perhaps (if they are going VERY slowly) should I go over and have a chat.
Being an innocent, highly logical sort of chap, I assumed somebody somewhere would have an complet, up-to-date, internet list of all boats that race. Rather like the DVLC does. Some authority that issues a The Numbers, for instance.
Please dont go to any trouble on my account.

Look at the number of runners on the hull I believe the red version has more than the yellow one. Also I know the console can be changed but the yellow one is much more swept back and doesn't have the box behind the driver.

Is the red one the old R19 and the yellow one the new version ?

The yellow one is Mel and Andy Wilby's boat from last season (one of Adam Youngers) which they crashed at Portsmouth, they are now running a diesel inboard with the same name - Cardinal Sin, and the other boat is the Back brothers boat - the only thing the same is the number! Hope that explains all -

How come two different race boats (run by different teams?) get the same number then ?

To me that makes it more confusing

ummm

R11 - This is Mel and Andy Wilby, currently a Pascoe SR9

R19 - Is Mike and Alan back .. but the picture is an old one, not the current boat

Two boats cannot have the same number (hopefully) ... otherwise that would REALLY bugger things up
