Race style consoles and seating - where from?

I'm currently looking into the seating arrangements for my Osprey XR20 which I intend to race next year, as well as leisure use.

http://rib.net/forum/attachment.php?...3&d=1117351260

Does anyone have any idea where I can find similar things to that? I'd only be looking for a bare moulding, as I'll be rigging the boat myself.

Cheers

Paul

You could try Mike Whitham. He builds Ospreys and has built those race consoles fairly recently.
His number is 01704 823455

Ahh is that the fella I've heard about. Must live near here as it's the same area code.
I've heard very good things about his consoles and the quality of his work for glassing them to the deck!

race style console and seating

His workshop is in Mawdesley Lancs. I know that he last year or early this year he took a race console off a vipermax and replaced it with leisure type console/seats for Kris of Brugge Marine. Don`t know what happened to the console he took off. He`s got to be the most obvious person to contact.

A couple of years ago, Kris was selling a 5.5 Vipermax in yellow & green with a race console, so if it's that one, the colour may not be ideal.

That's great cheers guys, I just rang Mike who is going to see how much Brugge are going to want for the console! It's yellow, but I'll get I'd sprayed black so that's not a problem. Only trouble is it may be a bit large for an XR20, but we'll see

Is it too wide?
I can't imagine it being too long if it fitted in a 5.5 Vipermax

With the motor tilted fully I have 3.3 metres of deck to the bow locker... The console is exactly 3.3m long, it would look crap and I'd be sat too far forward

If there wasn't the distance, i could help you out.......

What friends of my have done was making a consol out of marineply, and added GRP to it.
Sanded it all smooth and painted it.
It's that i'm a carpenter and can make a lot of shapes in plywood.
So i'm planning once i've found a rib to make a side by side console my own.
But side by side or race console it both is a lot of work.

I'm curious how you'll fix this, could be a suggestion for me.

My dad has just retired, he was a self employed boatbuilder and GRP fabricator for 30 years. We could make our own but once the plug is made, then a mould, then the console it would be easier and far less hassle to just buy one. If nothing suitable can be found though we'll resort to making one. I'm wondering now if there's room for 2 bucket seats though, I'm going to have to do some mock ups with old car seats at the weekend haha

That would still only give me a few inches extra, and the front of the console would still be too far forward. I think I'll be using a lifter anyway depending on what motor I end up using, which will give me a bit of setback. I'll hopefully have the old console and seating out this weekend so I'll be able to do some experimenting

Would you be able to alter the seating within the race console to allow a bit more space in front of the console?

I remember seeing photos of that boat on the Brugge website, but don't recall the console filling the deck of the boat. 3.3m seems very long for the console.

I'm not sure exactly what it looks like, but it's an osprey interceptor. I'm guessing with the leg room required there wouldn't be much scope to shorten it, that's what mike said too. The one in that photo is far too far forward for my liking
