Radar Arches?

I have a new Bombard 730 with a Suzuki 140. I would like to have a radar arch made for it that can hold a few kayaks. I'm thinking of having 3" aluminum tube used because I question that stainless maybe too heavy. The rack ought to hold up to 500 lbs of weight and withstand that forces of going through surf and swell. Any ideas would be appreciated. If you know any fabricators in either British Columbia or Washington State, that would help.

Hi

Cant help you for contacts but suggest that if you look at manufactures of self righting frames, they are similar in having to cope with very high stress loads.

The other place you could try is Ribtec. I belive the Camel Boats, which I belive were built by Ribtec, had frames capable of carrying kayaks. Try them, they may be able to tell you who made theirs, or even supply them

Just a thought though, dont forget to take in acount the height/weight/g force calculations as 500lbs, X feet in the air, together with the way RIBS get used could put high loads on deck mounts, structurs etc.

Regards Gary

Yeah those Camel Trophy frames had quite a bit of kit on 'em, including two mountain bikes, wakeboard, and waterskis. So something like that should be able to support a couple of kayaks.

Hmm, didn't everyone with a Camel boat complain that the frame welds kept cracking up?
