Hi Ian,
I was their last month and yes it's well worth the visit, I've never been on one of the charter rib's though, but they look very fine vessels. If I can catch the weather and tides right i'd be up for another trip, let me know if you'd like to join and we'll see what the weather does.
Paul.

When are you down here, Parkesy? Would be good to catch up.
The jet RIB trips are a rite larf. Get onto the bitches run on a spring tide for the best fun.

Better still. Bring your RIB and Ill guide you around the island. Been Skippering Jets, Ribs and hard boats around it for 4 years. Good rates!

coming up fri eve camping with the van , home sunday eve so need to pack in some fun . Hope to book a rib trip saturday when the bitches are running . Come down and join us .
Not sure where we are staying yet ,
I used to kayak the bitches and around that area so wanted to show my daughter some of it from the sea .
sounds daft but the though of heading out there in my rib is more scary than it was in a kayak . would want to do some planning and have the company of another boat . also not sure how welcome tourists in own boats are in the area now with all the comercial boat trips etc .

Caerfai Bay is a good place to stay - just a 10 minute walk from the city centre. There's a small level grass pitched campsite on the LHS as you drop down from the main road into Caerfai Bay - owner lives in a posh house on site, called Glanymor. Some pitches with mains electricity available, if you need it and basic toilet/shower facilities. Its convenience to the city is its biggest advantage. Booking not necessary at this time of year.
OR
In Newgale, only a few miles south of St Davids, there's a camping field, just across the road from the beach. Fabulous spot, but no/limited facilities to speak of, although the Duke of Edinburgh pub is next door and there's a cafe 50 yds away.
I'm busy on Friday (Scarlets v O*****s), but should be around Saturday, although there's talk of a 20-shant beer festival in the local pub.....

Assuming the RIB ride runs from St Justinians lifeboat station, you'll need to allow around 30 mins to drive from Newgale, park & walk down to the station.

Ohh what fun that was ,
thank christ i only ended with a 1 hour trip after the other company completely screwed up . great talk on seals and birds etc but not an rib ride , they would be better off with a petter diesel rather than twin etecs .
Thousand island adventures don't bother the only adventure you will have there is trying to stop them charging you for a trip you didn't have because they fooked up the booking

camping was fine found caerfaii farm , nice hot showers clean toilets and stunning view .15 min walk from town . really friendly owner .
It all went wrong friday when i lost my wallet .
Saturday went off to check in with the boat ride company to find there were at least 3 seperate ones . Found the one i had booked with but they were flapping about the weather and sea state, telling me the 2 hr offshore trip that afternoon that i had booked was full and i had to take the shorter trip at noon or nothing . I got the impression they needed to fill seats so cancelled and went to another company who could only do a one hr trip so we took that . The sea was almost flat calm
later that day my phone rang as i was walking the coast path it was thousand island adventures asking where i was as the boat was waiting for me . The very trip they had told me i could not have . As luck had it i had cancelled my card due to loss of wallet so they couldn't charge me , cheeky bastards asked for another card to charge me anyway. basically 2 dumb blonds runnning the office one appeared very stressed and the other hung over .
lesson learned , don't follow the tourist trail and take my own boat next time . dam a cornishman should know that
wales was as lovely as ever and St Davids as i remember it but a bit more touristy

I suppose it was always going to be a bit risky, booking a trip with a company named after a salad dressing.

It's a shame really . I've booked several trips over many years , never had the aggro that you did , and the trips have always been very enjoyable . In fact it was my first 1000 Islands trip many years ago that proved the clincher for me and made my get into ribbing .
However , you probably can't beat taking your own boat there , and organising your own custom made cruise .
