Rare 5.4m Searider
I saw this in the yard the other week and it is in mint condition - looks like very low use.
Fitted with Yanmar 4JH4 -HTE with an Alpha Drive unit and 2x Ullman seats.
For sale with RAMCO at what I would say is a very good price considering what you are getting.
Not the fastest thing out there but very economical.
I would have liked to get it but it is out of my price range but thought someone here may be interested.
(I am not connected with the sale).
Boats And Vessels 5.4m AVON SEA RIDER

May be the pic, but looks to be a very elevated helm position.... were the Ullmans on a platform.....presumably they could be to accomodate the jet unit....Was it still a flooding hull
Edit....is it a jet or leg.....prob leg isn't it....

It had a Mercruiser Alpha leg with a nice stainless prop on it.

The hull was not a flooding hull if I remember correctly and the seats looked like 'Ullman Compact' seats which fitted directly on to a box section.
In front of the console/engine box were 2x two men pod seats.

We use them at work.. very slow.. no get up and go. Only do about 25 knots, very heavy in comparison to the petrol version, but actually if don't want top end.. cruise at 20knots..
Not much room in them due to the engine housing though..

How high?!!! You'd feel very exposed in a sea. A bit of bite in a following sea and you'd be in. Waaay too high.

I tested this boat before it went to to trial. It did i think 32knts ish. The only downside is it has been capsized a few times for the solas trial. The engine did have a drink. It should be fine as its been used a fair bit since then. The only thing i didnt like was the seats being so so high!! and it has quite a bouncy ride. Its running with an Alpha leg with a Jack shaft kit from the engine to the drive. Other that that it would make someone a great work boat.

You probably had the production boat which had only a 75hp Yanmar, which was pretty slow!

would it be possible to replace the ulmans with some sort of lower jockey and sell them on? Leisure user doesn't really need them, they make this think look/feel odd and you'd get a good chunk of cash...

Yeah, 110hp, the engine is pretty much in the middle of the boat and It handles like its on rails, probably one of the best turning boats ive ever been in. Full lock, full speed turns with no fuss. And yes i would take the ullman seats off and find something more suitable!!
