re-tubing ball park figure

Just wondering had a rough idea re-tubing would cost on a 5.4 searider
got an eye one fpr ssale but it needs new tubes and was just wondering very roughly what kind of cost is involved.
i know there are plenty of people on here who do it and i dont want a proper quote, just wany a rough (non quote) figure

Hi,

Last year Olmec quoted me £2500 for a 4m Searider. I didn,t go in to specifics with extra straking, handholds etc. But that might give you some idea.

For me it probably isn't worth it.

Regards Nick R.

I think a mistake has been made here as we would not quote £2500 for retubing a 4mtr sea-rider.

Ribraff,

I thought it was a mistake too. Far too much for a little Searider. Did they quote wrong.

How much would it be now then.

Regards Nick R.

Olmec quoted me just over £1600 for my 5.4m Searider.

Sorry to raise this topic again,

But a friend asked me to get a price to retube his 4 Meter Searider.

My first return quote is from a company in Devon. Cost is £1800 ex works not including VAT.

Personally I think that is a lot of money. Anyone got better quotes.

Trouble as well is that all the retubed Seariders I have seen don't quite look right anymore.

Anybody had it done and managed to retain the look of the original Searider. Surely somebody must do it.

I was thinking along those lines but I imagine Avon, A large multinational company, would not be interested in carrying out such repairs.

Indeed you can't get RRP's for any RIB from Avon. Only the dealers.

Also I had another RIB repaired under guarantee by Avon last year and they insisted it be carried out by a small yard in the New Forest.

I was hoping that because it was a large firm that they would pick it up on a truck, take it back to wales, repair it, and then return it. More fool me.

Avon seem only geared towards initial builds. And personally I don't think I would ever buy a Avon leisure RIB from the latest range.

Their commercial/Industry/Military RIBS seem far superior to their Leisure range.

now that could come in useful for a little opportunity i have, trouble is i would suspect that avon will be at the high end of the market regarding pricing but no doubt they would do a very good job, would be interesting to get comparative quotations

cool

as others have said the answer is yes and a very pleasant surprise at the price too!

I asked for a quote for a 4m Searider and it was around £1100.
The only stipulation was that the work would only be carried out subject to their engineer surveying the hull first to ensure that it was safe to retube.
I'd also asked about supplying tubes only for fitting elsewhere and they politely declined saying that they felt this was not safe..........oh hum.

Just wish I hadn't deleted the emails now cos I could have given you the contact name and number

Ps: Codders, I only quoted your response because it was the easiest

Blimey I'm a scally wagg.........

.......because my immediate thought was "it'll cost nothing" Why, simple - my insurance wold cover it. "oooppps, sorry Mr Insurance Co someone has just taken a knife to my tubes/I reversed into a barbwire fence/a truck reversed into me"........

However, from the stance of I wish to buy your RIB but "hey your tubes need replacing and I want you to know a good proportion of that of your asking price" then, get the most expensive qoute you can get your hands on !

For a 5.4m. Please tell us more.

The only thing I have priced from Avon is their strake for the 5.4 m and thats £17+ per metre. They must be desperate. In fact we'll alll have it done at that price.

can you please confirm a 5.4m searider retubed for 2 grand by Avon.....

That is a cracking price.

Blimey!!! A retube from Avon would be cracking!

In all seriousness, I have to agree with Biggles, I can instantly spot
a retubed Avon Searider as they just don't look the same as before ( at least I think I can, given photos ).
Tubes look totally different. Arrrr...

I would think if one of the aftermarket tube makers can show that they can
retube an Avon Searider to look like the original than they'd get quite a bit of
business given there seem to be a TON of them around. And most of them
seem to only need a retube to look proper again. Can you say niche niche market?

Ahh I'm just daydreaming. I'm not quite in the market for new tubes just yet. But I will definitely in the future. I'm not gonna sell my 2 seariders thats for sure.
