Went the Navico route Ie Simrad/Lowrance because of the very excellent Mercury

Very clean and un-fussy.
I will have to mount on top of my console has I don't have dash space for a large plotter.

I had no room on the console and find them fine on the top

I’ve had topmounted units in the past & they work well. You can angle them to suit your helming style & remove them at the end of the day.
