Rear bench/sunpad

I’m in the process of buying a really nice Ribcraft 9m, but it has no rear bench seat - just a big open space at the moment.

I need to add a bench back there, but my wife would love somewhere to relax on the back too. Our last boats have always had sun pads.

So, I figured I could design and build a bench seat which converts to a sun pad. I run a fabrication company, so it wouldn’t be too tricky.

I wondered if anyone has done or seen anything like this before?

Pic attached of the area I’m working with. It’s bigger than it looks.

Cheers!

Often the bow is the sun pad area utilizing a center filler cushion.

The blank canvas is wide open to your imagination. A convertible rear bench to sun pad has many options, and materials. Dry storage, or wet storage for fenders etc. Super light from carbon fiber. Fiberglass over wood, for the cheapest and in many ways easiest. Stainless is always beautiful. Aluminum saves on weight. Myself and others always appreciate seeing in process and completed work, please share.

Several designs with back seats where the back rest slides forward. Goldfish, Agapi make smart seats.
