Recommendations Solent area
Hi guys, I have visited the forums for a while now but only just registered.
I have a Ribtec 645 with a Yamaha 100hp four stroke, I am after getting some tube work done and possibly getting new ones fitted as mine are getting a bit worn on top. I also need some electrical work done including fitting a new VHF with DSC can any one give some recommendations of companies that can do this not to far away from the Solent area that wont se me off?
Thanks in advance

Maybe closest is Ribshop (who found very good) or maybe Biff can do both also(who also has a 1st class reputation).

Hi Welcome to Ribnet.
As Peter said we can help you out on both items, if you would like a price on a retube PM me your email address and I will send a quote through to you, we can have the Ribtec tubes made in advance so would only need the boat for three days to fit.

Thanks guys, Rib Shop I have emailed you from your website regarding tube
pricing. What sort of life expectancy should I be looking at for new tubes
anyone, the last set have faded and gone chalky.

How long is a piece of string!
Not all hypalon is created equal, some colours seem to cope better than others, if you keep the boat under cover or clean and treat it regularly that will help. Even simple steps like hosing the salty droplets off will help.
Less than ten years from leisure use would disappoint me, put it that way.

Before you replace the tubes have someone check this is what is needed, it may well be a good cleaning agent that the profeesionals use will help to bring back the tube colour and then a sun screen done once or twice a year will protect them. Best to keep cover on when not in use for a long term help. Both Keiran and Biffer will be able to tell you on inspection.

faded and chalky isn't the end of the world, red and blue do it more than all the rest, test for you, get some ordinary white spirit and clean the chalkyist bit you can find, it won't stay like you will see it but it could with a good clean and condition

Like Biff suggested there are ways to give tubes a new lease of life.
A good clean and polish with something to protect them works wonders. Quarry Tile sealer is the budget solution .
I'd also be tempted to add some smart wear patches along the top edge of the tubes to keep them going for a while and improve the appearance.
