Red Arrows at Falmouth
Did anyone else see the show today? They're always superb, but I've never seen them quite so up close and personal before, even at air shows.
Saw plenty of RIBs out, but none that I recognised. I was with the kids in the Aerotec, we launched at Percuil to beat the traffic (great launch spot for SIBs btw).
Apologies for the lousy pictures. That's what you get using a phone in an Aquapac, must get one of those proper newfangled waterproof cameras!

Errr, yeah. We were in the inner harbour tied off of some rich pals with big 'trawlers'. Good wern' it?
By your pics, you were pretty close to us. Did you here Brad's chopper warming up during the show? Presumably the pilot opted against popping out of the docks with that lot tearing about the skies.

I did hear the helicopter and wondered whether it might make an appearance mid-display. I thought that a low level bird strike with one of the seagulls was another potential hazard!
Camping at Chateau Kernow this week. Seemed like a great plan yesterday, but with today's more authentic Cornish weather I am beginning to wonder...

Great show...what a way to earn a living :-) "Did you have a good day at the office dear?" "Nah, just like any other..."
'Hey Joe' drifted passed us whilst I was somewhat distracted by an over-populated 'sports boat' trying to anchor 2 feet away :-)

The "Reds" displays at the west-country regattas have always been spectacular, my favourite is Dartmouth where they get down into the river channel below the adjacent hills on either side. By far the best vantage point is on the water underneath them!!

'Drifted'?? Were we not under way?
Were you the blue RC with side-by-side wing back pods?

Drifted...a term for sedate passage ;-) My calibration is off after the pantomine of the sports boat anchor :-) Actually, I think their anchor was a mud weight. Even when they'd dropped it they dragged it about 50ft and got even more up close and personal with one of those flying bridge trawlers.
Yeah, that sounds like us...blue RC, wing backs, worried expressions.
The annual 'race' back to Mylor was, er, interesting :-)

Give us a shout next time. Where are you staying?
I hauled out at Mylor at 8am this morning, followed by a superb 'full english' for the Missus and I at the new, very fancy, Mylor Harbour Cafe.
