Just incase anyone needs a wee reminder: http://www.rib.net/forum/misc.php?do...ork&page=rules

If you are skim reading the words, courteous, relevant, and whining might be useful sentences to review!

Thanks for the offer Andre but afraid Parker’s just don’t do it for me. Sure they’re fine boats but to my mind at least, they’re not a like for like boat.

9.1 cabin photo attached Willk - guessing Redbay 10 is one of these?

That black and yellow boat is currently for sale on findafishingboat. Face value seems cheap but I’d be scared of those engines as she’s knocking on a bit now!

Looks to be a cut off 9.1 - sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t... Only a sea trial would tell but too many scary unknowns for me.

That's identical to Redbay 10. "Bryn Teg" was another.

Yeah, a cut off 9.1m. There's a thread on here about her. I understand she was a bare build and the owner fitted her out with engines. I'll look for a link.

There's extensive footage of Redbay 10 in a range of seas conditions in this video. Jump to minute 1:30 and watch to almost the end.

I spotted one for sale in Kerry.
More curiosity than active interest on my part.
I know nothing about them but suspect the engines are like old Citroens, in the right hands they are no worse than any other brand, in the wrong hands they get a bad name.

(May I politely and courteously point out that wet and whet are easily confused

I'll take that as a compliment!

Unfortunately I can't take all the credit for the online marketing, after all credit where credit is due - let's not forget Andy Gee, Ribochet, CraigC, donegaldan, Portnahaven, and the vast corps of Redbay skippers who "use and enthuse". And c'mere - when I finally get my pig through basic swim training, there'll be no stopping Team Redbay...

Thanks Willk!

Sure you’re right about the engines - I’ve heard lots of mixed reviews, some great and some terrible (as with any product really). One thing is for sure and that is that parts are pricey. Guessing resale isn’t as good either and in my opinion, they’re a bit on the light side for such a big boat (small displacement, high revving).

Cheap boat for the right person though.

So long as YOU are not promoting YOUR business then technically no.

Redbay 9.1 or Ribcraft 9.0?

Nope! As an "RC lad" I have great respect for Redbays, my current boat could well have come from Cushendall if RB could have been arsed to give me a price. But I guess they had bigger fish to fry. If the op wants a Redbay, I wouldn't presume to try & sway him, it's a good choice. I'll keep my buns dry[emoji6]

So personally I have driven neither of these exact models, but I have driven different lengths from both manufacturers from the same (RC) or similar (RB) moulds. My impression overall is that the Ribcraft hullform is hands down amazing in a following sea given enough power. However, for a head sea, I'm pretty sure that for the models you are considering the Redbay has a steeper deadrise in the bow, and may well do better especially in short steep confused seas. The hardnose should also give you a little more integral bow weight which should help head-to over bigger crests.

Having said that fitout is key here. I've driven several ribs (including my current RC 6.8) which have had their head-to handling quite significantly compromised by too much weight placed aft at time of manufacture. The difference between different layouts and weight distribution might be much much greater than the likely marginal difference between the two very well designed hulls you're considering.
