The Mariner 100hp 2-stroke looks clean. Nice you've managed to get the auxilliary to match. I have the same 4hp. Cracking wee engine.

The Tohatsu's should be easy to shift or split unless you're planning on keeping 'em.

Hi there, i'm well pleased with the mariner, it was hardly used, it runs almost completely smoke free and reasonably quiet.

I sold one of the engine's a while back on ebay, but the guy didn't pay, and never even came to see it, iv'e never got round to advertising them again.

Bwm deepsea 18 refurb.

Next thing was to strip the boat to get the deck out.
The wiring was complete shambles as you'll see in the pics,

Engine off, a frame, steering etc.

Gerry.

Cut out deck, well gubbed as i thought,
no signs of any sealer or glass on underside of deck at all !!

only thing holding me up was the glass on top.

Would I be correct in thinking that those are fairly normal-sized stringers, but that the absence of lateral bracing is unusual?

Good question, iv'e never been inside a boat before, so don't really know, but i'm sure somebody with more knowledge than me will be along to tell us.

As it happens i put some more bulkheads in anyway when i rebuilt it.

Gerry.

Hi Daniel i was just looking at your refurb, "i wish i had somewhere inside to work on it " ha ha, i might have done it a bit quicker.

The hull is in good nick, stringer's, a bit gubbed but fixable.

Bwm deepsea 18 refurb.

Checking transom and stringers.

Transom solid just some holes to fill up, hull solid, stringers a bit rotten in places, need to reinforce and glass.

Bwm deepsea 18 refurb.

Filled transom holes with wooden dowels, reinforced the stringers with timber and glass.
I cut the forward bulkhead to move the fuel tank forward to accommodate the console and
built a new one and glassed in.

I also had to raise the tank base, to allow for the angle of the bow, with the tank further forward.
There seemed to be a lot of space down here doing nothing, so i put in 2 more bulkheads and a base for an underdeck locker, with access through a big deckhatch.

Many thanks but its certainly not on the same scale as your undertaking.

I've done two "projects" now and said I'd never do another as I'd rather be using them than be building them.

Unfortunately I've got that "itch" again though and I find myself looking at boats I shouldn't be.
