I've no idea, I guess it's worth what someone will pay.
Personally I don't think I could ever have enough money to spend some if it on a Vanity Number Plate.

RIB XX wouldn't be irish as it ends in letters. It would have been R1 BXX. Which may have been grabbed cheap and worth a bit now. My kids bought me the Richard Hammond (short bloke, Top Gear) book on cool and uncool motoring. If you drive an X5 with a private plate you are as cool as Jade Goody! Anyone interested in a nice X5 complete with plate?

Or is it perhaps that Boeing 757 captains have more going on in their lives than worrying about personalised number plates

What's the point - unless
It has to be a good one to be worth having.
Your initials followed by the number 1 perhaps.
Or something amusing perhaps.
One of those things to spend your money on when you've bought everything else but still have nothing to do!
Or have bought an early varient of a car and are trying to disguise its age by putting a cheepie plate in it.

RIB XX. Guilty, Its mine. I bought it for a number of reasons. Firstly it take away the fact that my Land Rover was new and I was feeling embarrassed that I had spent so much money on a new car and sending out all the wrong signals to my customers(one reason why I let my car stay so dirty). Secondly, and the reason for RIB is that, although today my boat is made of wood, I have had many RIBs in the past and I am a big enthusiast. If that is not enough justification, for the last couple of years, I have held a significant interest in the ribbing industry. I am delighted to see so much interest in it and if any one wants to make me an offer I can’t refuse, I won’t be offended, I don’t mind changing it, I have a few more.

dvla personalised plates
the cost of a plate depends on how much you want it. In a recent dvla auction AW55OME was reserved for £950 but sold for £6,100. If your name is common reg prices are higher- every one chasing the same name.....I got lucky not many Geds in this world
