Are rev counters interchangeable?
Will my tohatsu 3 cylinder 90hp rev counter work on my mariner 4 cylinder125hp?

Usually a dial on the back that you can turn with a flat blade screwdriver to set the number of poles.

not sure about the tohatsu, but i went from a 3cyl to a 4cyl with no problem regards tacho as it gets the signal from the charging side of the stator rather than the ignition side. give bill higham a ring, he will know

I'll try that just trying to decipher which wires on the new harness to use. There were 4 on the old one presume 2 for revs and 2 for oil light.
I think the new harness has 6/7 wires in it so may do a trim gauge to
