Revenger 715

Hi All

I'm thinking of buying a Revenger 715 for personal use and as a 4th boat for the school.

I know the laminaters and the tube builders personally, so know they are very well built.

Anyone been in one? Do you think a 150hp is powerful enough? What is the bench seat like for the driver?

Anyone know if the 760 will be the same layout?

Jono

I had a test ride on the 715 with Honda 150 at Ribex. Engine was incredibly quiet and smooth and we did reach 50mph, but the boat definitely felt it could have done with 200hp. If it's for school use as well then I guess the 150 would be sufficient and if it was a direct injection 2-stroke it would of course be quicker than the Honda.

RIBase
This is a little off-subject, but what the hell..............
at RIBEX I thought I saw a Revenger, diesel version, with a drive-shaft instead of a "leg" and a pair of s/s cuffs surrounding the prop. (presumably for protection).
My interest is:
Does this work?
Is it better than having a "leg"?
Is the owner happy?
Any other comments?

I'm fairly sure that boat is one of Pascoes Sport Ribs with a surface drive system similar to the pulse drive? He was going to race it as soon as he changed the seats and a couple of other things but havn't heard anything since.

It's an EPS V8 TigerShark ... concept and build by EPS Marine, Hull design by Ocke Mannerfelt and hull made by Mark Pascoe.

Apparently the engine and propulsion system is exclusive to EPS.

Only on the usual issue of direct injection 2-strokes' superior acceleration vs 4-stroke. But the Honda was lush

Hi Jono,

I have not been on this model. However, I have been in a Revenger 29 and the seats were terrible: Too wide to provide any lateral support & too hard to provide any comfort.

If they have not addressed these problems I would suggest having jockeys fitted.

Cheers.

Yes I saw this as well - drooled like hell over it - bloody big V8 with a nice looking supercharger bolted on - that was definitely a surface drive I saw!

its an ecodrive surface drive... cheap at £7k.. i think theyre currently trying to squeeze another 100hp out of it.. not sure the performance figures add upto the additional expense though.

If it lasts longer than a Bravo 3 then it would be Does it need a seperate gearbox or is it one unit like a normal outdrive?

surface drives are NOTHING like a conventional outdrive - they have a normal gearbox with a straight shaft coming out supported by a bracket - more like a normal shaft drive arrangement - where they differ is that they stick further out from the back of the boat and the props run almost on the surface.

prob most famous of them all

Unlike Z drives surface drives operate in a straight line - FAR more logical.

Just spotted this site - similar system to the Eco Drive - on their website they show a Scorpion 10.5m fitted with their drive!
