I said if we hit £8,000 for round the Isle of Wight 2013 then I would push it over £10,000...
So I came up with the RIB 4 Macmillan...
I bought an Osprey Viper 525, with a tailer and engine, but after a lot of feedback from friends on here I was worried that I would need my purchase price back and that it would turn into a profit and loss situation...
So I sold it and started to search for a donated rib...
When I was offered a partnership in Osprey I jumped at the chance as I thought it was my dream, so I sold my FC470 to a private boat collector to rase funds for the Whispermax and things went really well, apart from the beige seats
...
However, the private boat collector then offered me a chance of a lifetime, a chance to really build a true RIB 4 Macmillan, so I took it and decided in the end to hand back my shares in Osprey to Nigel (Landlord) who I was sure that he would make a success of it... It really was was an easy decision for me but all my family and friends were shocked.
With the gloves off we poured our hearts and souls into the MacRib and I will never be able to explain how we all felt during the build.
We all pushed ourselves so hard and very often we over did it and I will never stop feeling guilty about the times I saw Biffer sat in a chair absolutely shattered.
We started out with nothing and ended up with what is said to be the best restored searider in the world and better than new. And we did it all out of nothing but donated parts, donations and the good will from great people.
And this is why I want to take it to the Southampton Boat Show, while being auctioned off at the same time on an 10 day eBay auction.
At this moment it is not clear if we will be on someone else's stand, or our own, but however it happens I'm sure we will make a success of it...
The thing is we are the underdogs, the people that were never ever expected to do this. And never before has a restored RIB been on display at the Southampton Boat Show.
So I reckon this is our time, we are not competing with any other manufacture, we are just doing our own thing and I hope they get onboard too.
This project has been a roller coaster, but it's not over yet and it all starts right again, right here, right now...
