Bring the electronics with you, with the space on the console I might have to be creative with some sort of bracket/rail of sorts

Ok, I have found an engine and trailer as part of a complete boat package, we have first refusal on it as it looks like the sale fell through....

The price is £2500 and it's a very good deal. However we still have the issue of how we are going to pay for it. We have an account set up ready for donations so we'll see how that goes over this weekend....

Thank you

Yes, the guidance from the person that donated the rib is that it should be restored to as close as possible to the original spec. However a few upgrades here and there would be cool as long as it all fits in with the look of the original rib

You mean upgrades like a self righting bag on the a-frame

more like, upgrading non-slip paint to gel, may flow the inside of the bottom half of the console as they are just mat and also look at the plotter / compass position.... Biffer is going to upgrade the transom's support fixings with a special Custom Rib conversion which is well thought out and much much stronger

Sounds like very sensible upgrades (unlike my tongue in cheek comment). She is going to look great when finished.

Likewise for me, I thought it was Thursday when I opened it but it was Friday PM, it was a bit much to ask them to get it up and running over the weekend, that's what buggered us up, we are going to need a few more pennies to get this finished, I had a talk with Alex and we talked about buying the boat ourselves, I've wrote this next bit 4 times, to try to get it right without getting jumped on, I can't for one just stomp up the money without getting it back, I had over a year off with my cancer treatment without any form of income, my business head says buy it but if I'm seen to earn out of the boat at the end, never mind the work to get it back in order, I'm going to get jumped on by some of you guys, so you see I'm dammed if I do or don't , although I can't speak for A lex I have a feeling he's in the same boat, sorry for the pun.
Something we will have to think about

If there are any stainless fittings/screws/nuts you need, please let me know and I'll see if I have anything or if my company will donate.

hi Biffer, I don't think any of us should be thinking about stomping up the money to buy this or any other engine if you are then going to have to rely on the kitty being big enough to pay you back, what happens if the kitty doesn't reach that figure? Whisper was right when he said we need to be careful how sponsors viewing this thread may see things evolving. there is time yet for those who want to make a donation, and that way the ones that can't help with the work can still contribute to the build

OK I have taken the bait!!! As long as a suitable A frame could be sorted, I am prepared to make and fit a self righting bag and CO2 system if it is felt that it would be beneficial to the boat. As far as the tubes are concerned and only having viewed the photos I think we will be stripping all the existing rubbing strakes off, as new strakes fitted would make the boat look almost like new.
