Were you using the clear gelcoat. Colour. Catalyst and wax to stop the stickiness?

Sometimes I have to order some colour as pigment as it's not available mixed, I then have to add it to clear gelcoat to make it up.
If you need to fill first before the top coat you use gel, it is only the final top coat that is flowcoat.
It's all to do with a chemical and mechanical bond....
Wax makes gel into flow coat, the wax comes to the surface stopping any air, this makes the flowcoat dry with a hard finish, where gelcoat dries sticky ready for the next layer.
If you were making a console using a mould then you would just use Gelcoat as there is no air between the mould and the gel so therefore it dries hard against the mould and sticky on the side you can see.
Thats got to be worth another tenner from someone

Have you tried getting Ivory as a pre mix or colour pigment?

Gave the ivory pigment to PeterM today, it needs to be mixed with clear and the some white to get it right as the ivory tends to fade. Needs wax unless you get clear flowcoat.

It's happening Alex.
If the care that's gone into prepping that hull is anything to go by, add professional rewire, tube refurb, a decent well maintained and just serviced engine and trailer, and safety kit, it will be a cracking boat :-)
Good on you for all the effort you are putting in to making it happen, I am sure you're already busy enough with Osprey etc

Well done to the Sunday gang. The hull looks great and the console looks so much better - good to see Biffer's "cunnynge planne"s have worked so well.
More good news, Whisper? Looking forward to hearing it - your four-leaved clover must be working overtime!

Thank you so much dude! It's this kind of support that will make this happen, sat up last night writing letters to a couple of companies that may be able to help with a few things
