It might go for some serious money now to be fair!!! Well done all.
What timeframe are you on for auction? Will it be taken on some of the Ribnet Cruises in 2014? Anglesey?

Every detail on the tubes should be more or less the same as the original so all the grab handles will be hand made and the tube strap sleeves too Luckily the Avon rubbing strakes also comes in black
Think we will have a lunch party but no plans to use it too much as we really want to keep it like new for the new owner

2014? Anglesey?
That would be a brilliant idea! Give us northern folk chance to see all this amazing work up close!

Wow, that's a spectacular donation from Chris at Henshaws.
A recurring theme for me in this fantastic project is the generosity shown by this RIBnet community; money, time, a man-cave, kit and equipment from all corners of the country coupled with the sheer energy, drive and determination of Whisper to make this happen.
Truly humbling.

After a long discussion of what we were going to do we all felt like this was an opportunity not to be missed and a chance to make our project a little bit special...
After laying out several of the fabrics we came to a final decision on the spec of the new tubes, ok so here it goes...
Henshaw's are going to make a set of identical tubes in terms of design however there will be one difference, the colour What we have decided on is to change the colour of the tubes to black with all black fittings and the Avon rubbing strakes also in black
The fabric that has been chosen is Black Velvet 1500gsm 1670 detex Hypalon This is much more durable than the normal 1300gsm, it has a soft feel to it but has a matt appearance
On the way home I picked up a set of brand new Black FC470 paddles again donated by our anonymous boat collector
It was great meeting the team at Henshaws, what a great team
So, now over to Chris to show us how it's all done
Here's a pic of the fabric, the rubbing strakes in the photo are there to see the colour and they are not the type being used...
|
well, all I can add to that Alex is very good choice of tube colour

Chris,
Spoke with him yesterday, a true gentleman, the generosity from Henshaws is outstanding,
This boat will be remembered for all the right reasons for many years to come, that I am sure off,
can not wait to see the magazine article, and for sure will raise some good cash for such an excellent cause,
Every one deserves a pat on the back, surely we must all have a meet up for a few beers and a good photo at the end of this!
Be so rude not to do so

Unpicking the rather soggy upholstery. New foam will be supplied by Southern Foam as original is perished. We will have all recovered by end of next week.

Keep some of the old foam for me can you, it will make a good argument for dry fast foam on other stuff I'm doing, ta!

Here you go
Sorry that I don't have any measurements but I do know that the lower bolt on the back seat rest had missed the bar completely and was held on by a penny washer that overlapped the bar.
