"Buns, slaw, apple sauce, stuffing, etc. £50"
I"ll pay this (if no one else volunteered already).
Have been shown a lot of generosity, and free boat trips! since have moved down 'sarf' and hopefully I'll be there to eat my fair share on the day

Yeah got the PM just about to reply.
I have arranged with Steve that if it's raining then the boat will go in a shed so people can look at it in the dry.
A tent might be good to show all the old parts left over and all the new items that come with it too.
I guess they wont mind, but I'll have to check with steve...

Firstly, can I just say that I have huge admiration for all those who have so generously donated time and materials to this project. I popped round to Biffer's a few weeks back and saw MacRib for myself and, although SR's are not my bag, it is obvious that this one is going to be something special. I've also been dipping in and out of this thread and have just been reading the last 100 posts or so, particularly those regarding the sale options and estimates as to value.
Whilst I've not contributed to the project itself, as someone who runs a charity and has had the task (on many occasions) of trying to maximise the return on items at charity auction, perhaps I could be so bold as to make a suggestion.
To get top dollar for it you don't just need SR admirers to bid, you need people with deep pockets - particularly those with a soft spot for the chosen charity.
Personally, I would complete the Rib and then take it to as many high profile events this summer (assuming we get one) as possible - Cowes Week, Henley Regatta, Dartmouth Regatta, etc, etc. This will generate publicity for the project, for Macmillan and for Ribnet, and it will also get it seen by some of those deep-pocketed chaps and chapesses (either at the events or in the publicity that follows). Before doing so, speak to the PSP Southampton Boat Show organisers and arrange for them to donate a stand to display it at the show, and then let it be known that it will be auctioned at the show. If possible, get it displayed close to the Sunseeker stand, or approach one of the engine manufacturers and tell them if they donate a motor for it then they can display it on their stand.
HNW (High Net Worth) punters who splash 2, 3 or even 5 million on their new gin palace will think nothing of dropping and extra £50k when it's going to a great cause - particularly if they get their name/face in a few news reports showing how generous they are. They may even donate it to an inshore rescue service or charity sailing club afterwards (let's face it, it's never going to sit on the deck of their pristine white super-yacht!).
Use the hog-roast / party to kick-start the publicity, and for all those who've contributed to celebrate their work.

Ok, we will never get to a final and very clear cut decision like this.
All I want you to do is post a figure, no words or comments, just post a figure of how much you feel that this RIB 4 Macmillan project should raise for Macmillan Cancer Support.
You have until Saturday night (8th Feb) at 7pm to post...
And please be realistic

+1 only problem I can see is it's going to take a fair bit of time and effort to organise but would most likely get the best result for MacMillan
