Rib and Ferry collision (With Pictures in the Report)

This isn't a new incident, but Marina Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has published a report on collision of a Rib called "Morfil" and Sun Clipper (Passenger Ferry) which happened in June 2011.

Luckily nobody was seriously hurt... but the rib was a constructive total loss....

It reads like their main issue was that they were pissed up and on the loose at night.

The MAIB preamble about alcohol related deaths (45 in six years) in leisure boating is fairly grim reading. We may expect controls if this is the best we can do...

Lucky indeed, they were nearly run down by their own boat. Fair do's to the ferry crew for affecting a sensible rescue including passengers. Boat looked a mess. And all this, with the worlds best Rib forum just a click away.
