This thread is a top idea and should be continued in the spirit with which it was intended . I would like to offer my entry into your list in the hope others will be inspired to enjoy this fabulous part of the British Isles

1. Country …..Wales
2. County …… Pembrokeshire
3. Town ……… Newport SA42
4. Boating Area …… Cardigan Bay

The small town of Newport Pembrokeshire, not to be confused with Newport Gwent is situated between Fishguard and Cardigan at the foot of Carningli ( a prominent mountain in the Preseli mountain range). The campsite and slipways are located in an area called Parrog . I enclose the web link for the campsite which has several reviews for your guidance . http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/de...asp?revid=3219 The campsite consists of 3 different camping areas plus an area just behind the sea wall where boats and trailers are parked by residents . Just outside the campsite entrance is a slipway down to Parrog beach which is roughly ¾ mile upstream from the estuary mouth . There are also 2 other slipways for access to the water . A visitors mooring can be rented from the moorings association . I will provide the phone number . All moorings are swing moorings . As a rough rule of thumb boating takes place 2 hours either side of high tide , thereafter the estuary dries out and all boats are high and dry . The channel itself is very narrow and its worthwhile seeking local knowledge plus viewing the channel when the tide is out . The channel is marked with green bouys but its advisable to take great care . Between the slipways is Newport Boat Club which welcome visitors from other clubs . If you are not a club member you may drink in the commodore’s lounge upstairs from the main bar . It is an idyllic location on the waterfront .There are other campsites in the area but this one is directly behind the sea wall so very good to keep an eye on your boat . Houses/cottages can be rented . Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire are a good agent for accommodation .( I’m not plugging mine just the area ) ….. Newport has its own bay which is particularly sheltered from the prevailing south westerlies so boating is usually available …. A northerly can spoil things though ….. for the sake of a 45 minute drive boating is always available in Milford Haven in case you cant get out at Newport . The coastline is spectacular , high cliffs , great wildlife etc …. You’ll never be disappointed

Hi bam bam, i go here every yr Inchmurrin Island on loch lomond £400 sleeps up to 4 6 8 10 persons for a week there are 4 house,s to pick from you can moor your boat right in front of the house and a pub next door, and pets are welcome,safe parking for car and trailer in lockup compound go on this web and take a look www.inchmurrin-lochlomond.com or go into seach thead on loch lomond on my thead and take a look at the pic,s of the place , hope that help good luck

We had a great week here http://www.lagnakeil.co.uk/ There is a marina at the bottom of the glen about a mile away. They let me park the boat in their yard & use the slip & pontoon for a week for £30, bargain. It launches into loch feochan? which is a shelterd safe haven, you then have access to the firth of Lorne, Oban etc.

Hadd - Those prices are great and its a great spot. I saw it when I was on the Loch earlier in the year but did'nt know it was a holiday place. I agree with Tony, its one to put on the must go list.

In june this year 8 of us had a week on Loch Lomond and stayed here http://www.lagganbeg.co.uk/.
The owners were more than helpfull with advice, Hints and tips. The son even repaired one of the boat trailers for us while we were out on the boat. (Re welding a cross member)
The cost of renting one of the challets was around £300 per week. We all enjoyed it so much plans are afoot to return again next year.

P.s. The "midges" wern't that bad, But the "Cleggs" were evil !
