Rib Goodwin 'Harry Dwyer'
Watched the live episode featured on the Raymarine channel and it was interesting stuff. The main news was that Goodwin was having a refit of sorts down at Cockwells (featured in earlier episodes) and that dodgy transom has been replaced and the hull has been re-gelcoated BUT I'm glad to report the same tubes are retained. The 30hp Honda is being replaced with a 50hp Honda so performance will be much better....and the Cherry on top is Goodwin has a fourth generation dash with all new Raymarine equipment...proper high end kit. Harry reported that episode 12 should be out within the next two weeks or so. Episode 12 will see Goodwin get to the West Coast of Scotland just North of Carlisle and he stated that this could be a feature length episode but could end up being episode 13 too (depending on the edit).
It would be all too easy for some to knock Harry's sponsorship deals..but they see the value of the content and in the professional footage and this kind of adventure and it's documentary costs much more than most would fathom.
Loving the laid back feel to Harry's documentary and the....it gets done when it gets done approach.
Best of British to him.....and respect to Chris...(Harry's anchor man.)

Im glad he has at last tackled that transom, i was always worried it would let him down. It's a bit of a shame that he has re-engined. The old 30hp being resuscitated after a long period out of use then fire etc was part of the charm - look how far you can go even with older kit if you look after it. I do get it though, a new engine will likely improve safety substantially. It will just be a shame to see a very different boat cross the finish line than what started as "project speedboat".
Still, I will keep watching and enjoying!

It’s going to be like Triggers broom when he finally gets back to where he started! But brilliant watching and all the best to him I say.

For me the evolving craft and relaxed timescale enabling better "television" just adds to the interest.

I'm not so sure it wll be such a different craft. If you have watched ftom the very start of Goodwins story you will see Harry doing a bit of lite restoration and a few upgrades. The work it's having done at Cockwells I feel is part of the evolving story and let's face it that transom could have let go at anytime leaving the 30hp Honda at the bottom of the Irish Sea. The 50hp honda will look the same and most won't notice......but with the added weight the extra 20hp will help get him going. Glad he is keeping the tubes though....but repaired properly.

Classic sketch lol.
Goodwin will have the same Hull and sponsons so I don't think it will look too different 50hp edition is a smart move with the extra tech.

I think this series is fantastic.
It goes to show that you don't have to have a RIB that's dripping with money to have a blast.

I love the series.
Watched from the start as he was restoring his SR4. Persuaded me to buy one too and it’s been such a great little craft. I recently sold it for something a little bigger but that little SR will always be special. And to be honest if I could have kept it, even just in storage I would have.
It’s nice to see a few companies jumping on the sponsorship for Harry as he was doing it with no backing. I’m sure he always hoped this would happen but he was doing it anyway.
It’s a very expensive and time consuming task to circumnavigate the UK in a small rib.
I’m looking forward to seeing Goodwin 2.0 😄.

Yeah I don't disagree that the transom needed doing, and probably should have been done during the original restore series before he started around the UK. I always worried about that especially with my old bombard transom having fallen off at sea!
I guess it just felt like a bit of an everyman boat (ie the romantic vision that you could knock it together in your shed) and it'll lose that a little. Still a great series and proves what an SR4 can do.

I recommend having a watch of the foam mining video he did too. It's very entertaining - especially his mate's face when he's clearly not in the mood and Harry's being a bit of a comedian.

I met Harry at BoatLife show this year as he did a talk and slide show. Had quite a natter with him and I can tell you that this next leg of the journey will be like no other... I think people will understand the delay after the videos catch up.

The only slight issue I have with this is that I think sponsorships should be clearly stated when there is product placement. I don't have an issue with the fact that Raymarine have given him thousands of £ of kit...I'm sure he's continuing this project at considerable personal expense and his content is of very high production quality.
Just the other day I was talking with a friend about how it had been 9 months since the last video (excluding the car one) and 7 months since the boat was last seen on AIS so I assume he had given up. I'm really glad to see he's carrying on, and with the latest round of works it looks like he's fully committed.

Great episode. The standard of workmanship at Cockwells is outstanding. Goodwin will benefit from the refit. The waters around Hebrides aren’t for the faint hearted when the wind gets up.

Harry’s little sea rider is more than dripping with money. OTT instruments, Radar, specialist gel coat renovation. Goodwin is not your average 4m sea rider she has come a long way. Excellent series though. Well produced and cracking Renault tow vehicle. Very much a choice of somebody who likes a bit of French style.
Looking forward to the next installments.

Oop’s didn’t check the dates. Yes you are correct it has evolved somewhat. I think as the videos have grown in audience the potential benefit to sponsors has increased. Ergo more free stuff available to demonstrate in action.

Harry is way behind real time however. Well over a year in most cases. Look at the petrol prices in some of the videos that gives it away and the people wearing masks
