I dont think that any other organised events would detract from the main event - and we would all know exactly what we are there for - the SOC send off. At every Regatta there are supporting events leading up to the main attraction.
However, all of the people involved in Zapcat Racing, and with the Gemini Cats, that I know are also RIB nuts. However, they are not all RIB.Net fans, and may not have heard of the SOC trip.
The more people involved, the higher the profile - and the more people to attend - and to buy SOC Miles - ergo more money for the SOC.
If you have a new Zapcat Dealer in Cardiff I would have thought he would be dead keen to have somethig like this on his doorstep as a boost to his advertising. The race could be a demonstration - but would also need to be a real race to be attractive to the public.
Lets do all we can to make this the most popular and attended weekend - with the aim of raising maximum funds for SOC - and making it a memorable occasion for all.

G,
We have been here before haven't we - we are all working towards a common aim here - we certainly do want as many people there as we can get!!!
I will speak with the guy today and post a msg here tonight.

I couldn't agree more - get as many people down there as we can - and if it raises an extra few quid for the challenge then that would be excellent.
At this late stage an actual race may not be possible - and a demonstration event may have to do - just thought a 'race' would keep in with the competitive spirit of the weekend.
Looking forward to hearing what your local Zapcat guy thinks
G

Spoke my local ZAPCAT guy this arvo.
He is VERY keen to start organising races outside the series and likewise this SOC week-end would have been a good start.
BUT...the ZAPCATS are somewhere else on the Sat - there must be a race on somewhere and they won't be in Cardiff till Sunday am or late Sat.
There is a bit too much detail organise if it is a race - like safety boats, insurance stuff etc.
He is quite keen to get involved and will certainly be part of the escort on the sunday.
(and hopefully these guys will join us for the party Sat)
I mentioned perhaps do something for the home back do - and this is a possibility.
I did try but then again, I must agree with him, that there is no point trying to rush to organise something like this.
They WILL be there and they will be on show and create an even bigger party crowd.
But no race.
He was out in the bay yesterday after the boat jumble - crazy guy - hm, sounds familiar.

Pity about the race - but the sight of 3 Zapcats out with SOC and the RIBs on Sunday will be great.

Yeah, they are still due to confirm, but there will definately be the one that is based in Cardiff anyway - and it looks like a good chance about the others.

Actually Eddy its even worse than that!!!
Our Study has 2 Desktop PCs and 3 Laptops
(not to mention 3 Printers, Scanner, Fax Machine and 4 Digital Cameras)
We also have 2 AOL accounts so that we can both be on line at the same time
( I get the ISDN line on my PC though !!!)
Truly the computer age !

I trust you connected the whole bunch to a network do you still actually talk together or do you settle matters via mail?
I'm just looking at the charts here...looking at a great day on the water tomorrow!

Unfortunately no network - all stand alone systems.
Surprisingly enough we do speak - and rarely e-mail.
Cant get out on the water this weekend - though I am in Cardiff Sunday so I may get to look at the SOC launch site.

Hm ,and I have just "borrowed" a laptop.
Sitting cross legged, laptop in my lap!(why do you think it got its name from) on my bed, using it as a study / office.
Did say I was a ribster groupie, not a computer groupie!!
Where you guys heading tomorrow?
