Received various communications from them over the last month or so advising now part of Ripe Insurance Services and also noted changes in policy cover.

We now have the renewal invitation on one of our policies which has increased by 14% from last year and the excess is different. This combined with their more onerous policy conditions means we’ll need to do a bit of shopping around this year.

This pops up regularly on Ribnet, but without any meaningful numbers it's impossible to compare the level of cover/premium.

£323 - Accidental damage and theft. This includes an endorsment regarding leaving it unattended on a mooring subject to an increased excess. (£1000 as opposed to £500).

The boat is insured for £30k, though given that Redbay have a boat of the same vintage with a smaller engine on up for £40k atm I think in the event of a total loss we're probably out of the ribbing game.

Cheers. I'm paying £475 for a £47k agreed value, with a very comprehensive policy covering Elbe-Brest. The policy conditions are that the boat is taken out of the water when not in use. But they will cover temporary mooring/Marina berthing by prior arrangement, which I often do. I just call them & say "I'm putting the boat in such & such marina for a week" and they agree over the phone & confirm by email. I've got a £750 voluntary excess, except in the case of a total loss, when the excess is waived. It's not the cheapest policy, but I'm happy with the cover & service.

I have just moved from Craftinsure to Porthcawl

Craftinsure seem to have changed underwriter and were a right pain to deal with when explaining our holiday mooring situation, a few years back they just put me through to the underwriter and we had a good chat and then agreed additional premium for summer months with some criteria (not leaving it on mooring when we weren't there etc).

This renewal it was a right faff trying to sort so gave up, emailed Porthcawl who were extremely responsive and can now leave it on mooring whenever in summer months, a lot less hassle and a reasonable price.
