Rib On Canal

Just tought I would share this with you all..

I live right on the edge of the Llangollen canal, infact the canal is at the bottom of my garden, we get used to drone of those floating long caravan things, going up & down at walking pace,

untill this morning, I was up early pottering round the garden, when we heard this high revving engine sound coming closer, I waited to see what it was, and YEP! you guessed it, it was a 4m RIB going flat out, with two young lads at the helm, closely followed by a jet ski,
all the moored canal boats, & barges were getting a right bashing in their wake.

Talk about giving a bad name to us ribbers OR WOT, I reckon the phone at British waterways is red hot this morning,

Thats the first time Ive ever seen a RIB on the canal.

Just hope that none of the occupants of these boats were making a brew or trying to cook breakfast. My mum still has the scars after 20 years. Good one, NOT

You wouldn't want to go to fast across that aqauduct near Chirk, bit of a drop and no rail on one side just the thin metal side

thanks , didn't have digi camera or mobiles with cameras the last time I was there, but been across the aqauduct several times in a dinghy and later on foot. Still amazed that if you stepped off the boat then the first bounce is 126 feet.
