Rib on ebay with torn tubes

There is a rib on ebay with tubes that are described as torn and extensively damaged. Given its age a re-tube is uneconomic, which is why it is there. I am pretty good with my hands. Is there likely to be any hope of repair if the tubes are patched from the inside? It sounds like access will not be a problem!

The rib is ebay item: 251172681695

Can anyone identify what it is and what the tubes are made of? The seller thought they might be PVC. From what I have heard PVC is much harder to repair well.

All the best

David

The tubes are described as 'torn and extensively damaged'. Unless you're in a position to visually inspect it, then walk away. Yes you can patch it, but the integrity and strength of the material is now in question, and retubing would be the right way to go.

The Yammie engine looks like early 90s. No way of determining it's history, other than year of manufacture from the plate, but would be worth a few hundred. The trailer probably needs overhauled too including bearings, possibly new tyres.

It is a Narwhal, they seams go under the fender on these and when they go are normally beyond repair. Unless you expect to retube her don’t touch it with a bargepole.

Thank you for the advice. I am glad I asked. I will indeed walk away from this one.

All the best
