Rib to shore, smallest tenders...
SO.. you've had to grab a mooring or anchor 100 yds from the shore. You don't want to swim and you don't have a tender towed behind or a friendly water taxi.
What do you do ?

Leave the tender on the mooring when you take the RIB out. Have you anywhere to store the tender ashore. That would seem your only problem

If you are talking tender it boils down to:
Toy inflatable for sub £100 that takes up virtually no space and weighs nothing, but is a toy, with the associated risks & durability.
Something more substantial that will take up space etc etc but could even handle the Aux to get you ashore & back.
There is no definitive answer..... other than always go places with piers or pontoons!

thanks for the suggestions, i particularly like the pet dolphin one !
i was also thinking that a cheap inflatable boat/kayak was the only way to go once everyone had been dropped off on the shore and i had gone back out to anchor up..
talking of anchors, has anyone got a Rocna anchor ?

There are some good cheap double layered tenders around new for £500 i.e. something like the T20-SE that will fit in a bag and can be lifted by a 10 year old. They come with everything i.e. pump, bag, slatted floor etc. you will also get 2nd hand ones of these for even less. oh will take a 4hp engine as well
spend a bit more and get a high pressure air floor i.e. T24-IE for around £700.00.
both are honwave's but there are other good makes as well and if budget is a major factor the 2nd hand ones are v v good value.

Our Honda agents were doing the Honda T-40 for £895 with all rigging and they had good deals on motors too.

Well I have a swing mooring so I am used to taking the tender from shore and leaving on mooring while out. When we are going to places where we are going to go ashore from anchor we have a small Redstart we deflate and keep in the bow, inflate when needed. it also acts as a bunk for the younger passengers on the road home sometimes. So keep your eye open on e-bay for a bargain.
Hope this helps.

+ 1 for the Avon Redstart, we took one to france and the kids loved it
If you end up getting one, make sure you buy one that is complete as the outboard brackets, oars and inflatable seats can command a high price when bought individually

I bought a Achilles inflatable off ebay cost just over £100 I did have to add the oars but for the money it has been great
Blows up fast & easy, rows well kids have fun in it I have even used it as a doughnut towing when I forgot the Boston valve for the ringgo!!
Excellent bit of kit!

Similar to above redcrest users, I managed to pick up an as new "lifeguard" inflatable (slatted floor and ob bracket rather than transom) for sub £50 on ebay. Stored in the bow deflated and will take the 4hp aux.

I used to have a roundtail 1.8m tender but this was a bit small. I bought it secondhand for about £90 and after a couple of years use sold it for £100.
I now have a 2.3m seago with an airdeck and transom which comes with us when we are going ashore anywhere remote and takes the 2.3hp aux so no rowing. Its big enough for both of us and if necessary the dog. It was about £270 new.
The mutt was another reason why we got a bigger one as he is getting old and struggles with the swim in nowadays cos he's just about blind........
