Rib Transom specs

If a new rib transom is rated to 75 hp which would be a 4 stroke probably weighing 150 kg.

If you wanted to go 2 stroke would you be happy to install say a 90 hp which weighs less than 150 kg.

I know a transom spec is about power and weight but would you think 15 hp over would be an issue.

I know it might have an issue with insurance

Check with your insurer first.......
I significantly reinforced the transom on my 6.0 Destroyer (added 50% extra thickness and bigger Knees), but even so when I enquired about going to a higher HP motor than the 150 it was rated for, insurers wouldn't touch it without a surveyors report and no surveyor I spoke to was prepared to even look at it - all said it would need complete re-Certification which would cost £1000's - so I stuck with 150
