I read an article about something like this (was it RIB international?) about a year ago. If I recall the tubes on the deck side were covered with somethinf hard to protect them.

Hi all
The rib is at a village called Lacanau in the Gironde area of France
Its a surfers place.
There are no builders names or plates on the rib the owner as a resturante and he catches is own fish. The tubes are made of what looks like canvas,
but they are flexable. its an amazing site to him launch from the beach into the surf, the recover is a bit rough he drive stright onto the beach then drags the rib onto the trailer.

Confirm sighting

I was in Lacanau last week as well and also saw the rib and can ideed confirm the sighting. It seemed to have all the equipent that any right minded French fisherman could wish to possess.
The tubes were massive in diameter so must have been built for serious offshore / heavyduty use.

Stangest think about the whole thing is that parking in Lacanau is hard at the best of times as so many holiday makers etc, this guy had managed to park outside a restaurant taking 2 1/2 spaces. I can only imagine the fun he must have had reversing it.

If in Lacanau visit the Bacardi Bar and the restaurant Cher something nearby.
