Ribcraft 4.8 or Zodiac 4.7 or are they very similar?

Ok so I am ready to bite the bullet and go for a rib. But which one? I am torn between a Zodiac 4.7m pro II and a Ribcraft 4.8m. The Zodiac has a manufacturers suggestion of a 50hp and Ribcraft has 60hp for engine size. I honestly feel 50hp is the most (cash wise) I can go for so should I sway to the slightly lighter Zodiac with this set up or would the Ribcraft with a 50 on be just as much fun? If anyone has an input that would clear the fog in my mind,I would welcome it. Many thanks.

Hi,
I currently own a 4.8m Ribcraft with a 60Hp EFI fourstoke outboard, and can say that for its size it is a good Rib.

Considering the price difference between a 60HP and 50HP I would go for the 60HP. Take a look at the Mariner / Mercury technical forum where they get many enquiries regarding what they need to do to make there 50HP a 60HP!!

The extra power can be usefull when the Rib is heavily loaded, in rough conditions or when pulling a water skier etc.

However, with 50HP on a Ribcraft 4.8m you can still have loads of fun.

Hi,

Both the Zodiac Pro and Ribcraft are great boats, have a read of these reviews from RIB International, the Ribcraft 4.8 is one the finest Ribs under 5m in my opinion. Have a read for yourself

Ribcraft 4.8 Review

Zodiac Medline and Pro 550 Review - not quite a 4.7, but will give you a guideline

Hope it helps

Hi there

Must agree the 4.8 is great, one of the best 4.8 around i belive.

If you looking at buying nearly new i am selling my Ribcraft 4.8 as moving up in size ( a lot ) to a 7.5/8M.
Drop me a mail if interested.

Regards Gary
