Does look tidy - about the right case, nice boat and a great size.
Saying that I've just taken the rear bench out of my 4.8 as it wasn't comfy for the passengers and put to much weight on the rear when used by adults.

Maximum power for the 4.8 is listed as 60hp — it might be worth giving the transom a very careful look over, because that one's got a 75 on it.

Slightly confused. They don't make a 4.85 and I don't think they ever have.
Current sizes are either a 4.8 a 5.3 or a 5.85.
Ribcraft did make a 5.45 around this age boat.
From the pictures and the engine size (4.8 is rated to max 60hp so I think this is ruled out)
I think it could well be a 5.45
I would message the seller and ask for a photo of the boat plate. This will tell you.
If it is a 5.45 then I have owned one. IMO. This was an incredible boat, punched way above its weight in terms of boat ride and performance.
Looks like a good setup, well worth a sea trial and a check out... Good luck!!

From the size of the folks on board and the space around the console I'd guess it's a 4.8. Looks smaller than our 5.3

Does look similar to my 4.7, I thought it looked quite pricy for a 17 yo boat.

I've got it.
It mst be the bow snubber that turns it from a 4.8 to a 4.85!

Hi Alan as you know I have a RC and like some of the posters I have a few questions as to length plus there are one or two non RC parts on the boat.
I would back the suggest to get a poto of the plate to satisfy your mind. But in saying that is it genuine then there is nothing to beat it for it size great sea boat that will handle anything you want it to do.
Best of luck keep us posted.

The 60hp listed on the Ribcraft website is for the heavier 4 stroke outboards - my 4.8 has the same 75hp Mariner 2 stroke which was listed as the maximum weight/ power at the time.

Ah, right. And to think it took me a while to work up the confidence to open ours up when it was re-engined with 50hp... it must fly with half as much again.

As an ex-4.8 owner, I'd say that's definitely a 4.8.
Looks like the original Ribcraft console and single jockey, but clearly the rear bench is a later add-on. Looks quite useful - the basic boat is a bit short on seating. Mine just had twin jockeys.
I'm pretty sure that Ribcraft used to rate the 4.8 as 60hp max, but with a statement that you could fit a 75hp if you needed it for regular waterskiing, etc. Can't remember if they stipulated that it had to be a 2 stroke 75. Just had a look at RC's website and I now can't see anything about it.
The under floor tank isn't that unusual, but helps a lot for overall boat balance. Mine had a 60hp 4 stroke and was very stable at full throttle.
They hold they're value well, so not surprised by the price. Excellent handling, dry boat for the size.

Definately 4.8 Ribcraft....Like alot of Ribcrafts they will Take a Bigger Engine if needed...something to do with being Well Built!! ...Unlike some Manufacturers who seem Paranoid about Power and Weight...Probabley for Good Reason!
