However it won't chine walk or skip, whereas a 585 with a 150 in my experience will do both. I'm not saying a 150 is a bad thing, it goes really really well, .[/QUOTE]
oh no it won't if it's driven within the capabilities of firstly
The driver then wx, swell, chop and all other aspects to be considered whilst in charge of a boat at sea

Yes, I understand what you're saying. The point I was trying to make is that in this particular case the set up would be the guy's first boat, also to be used by his sons if I read that right, and it might therefore be sensible to go for a package that allows a little margin for error. The 150 is perhaps better suited to someone who's had a boat or two before and know when the trim isn't right or simply when to back off a bit.

Aaaaand breathe, phew, nearly got messy and lost more members there!
So on balance, 90 is underpowered 115 ok (particularly for new boaters) 140 4s possibly ideal balance, 150 2s be great fun in the hands of more experienced boaters as opposed to newbies.
..... I'd have the 150! ;- )

Hmm. Really? Horses for courses but I'd want over that ideally with only 4 people.

May not "need" it but I'd be left "wanting".

It's very tidy with the 150hp .....
https://vimeo.com/51363601
If it's trimmed right out and your at WOT it does chine ride BUT I've yet to find a boat that doesn't do that unless it's under powered.
