RC 585 is a nice Boat.
Rick W on here paid me a couple of visits at home some time ago for a chat and advice ....he was in pretty much the same position ...and mind as you.
.... May well be worth you time having a chat with him
IF ...you do go the 585 route the new Mer 150 would be a great match

I have a RC545 & a SIB which will probably see me out between them. The 545 is a compact, go anywhere little beast. Perfect for the 2 of us, can take 4 if needed, but it gets cosy.
As Maximus says above, the 585 + the 150 Merc is a great combination.

I agree with Maximus and PD's comments, but it does depend on your use, conditions you go out in, length of runs and number of people you want to carry.
the 585 is a great boat, as is the 6.8, the 6.4 is a really a "stretch 585".
As described on other recent threads Ribcraft are more utilitarian than some other marques, lacking some features some others have - Treerat's Highfield has great access and storage in the the console, compared to a RC for example, but I doubt you'll find a better sea-keeping boat.
If I wanted to carry more than 4, wanted to do distance, had the space, towing capacity and budget I'd rank a 6.8 top, if I was normally our solo or with 2, and had a constraint on towing / storage / budget I'd go for the 585.

Have you had a play on the RC USA site? They have a configurator on it which gives you build costs
They end up super expensive compared to Yeovil

Aaargh! You'll need to log in to RIBnet and click the "remember me" button as well - it kicks you off after a set time otherwise!

If you’re doing a long write up. Do it offline in something like an email or notepad & then copy & paste it into Ribnet. Don’t ask how I know this[emoji849]

Last time……..regarding the hull on the 6.4 this came from Rc today boat was in the water ….both made mincemeat of Southampton water 585 seemed spacious to us (compared to 5 mt)5 on board inc dog 5800 rpm 36 knots 140hp suzi 2 lt….5 mt with 70 hp 1.5 lt did 34 knots with 4 on board probably better with Mercury 150 …3lt engine 6.4 had loads of room seemed smoother faster could be pseudo weighs 300 kg less than 6.8 but still needs twin axle trailer ….also it’s a six month wait for delivery. Yes m8 did it in notes copied it

Personally I’d avoid the Suzuki Df140 & go for the Merc.

I went Merc 225 on my 6.8 rather than Suzi and very very happy with it
I have a couple of mates with 6.8 with Suzi 200 obviously all great boats
No experience of the 6.4 though
Although Ribcraft will quote basis Suzi because of their partnership they ultimately will spec you boat in whatever way you wish that’s the great thing about Ribcraft

The 6.4 is a stretched 585 & has a large flat planing pad from around 2/3rds along the keel to the stern. This reduces the power requirements as the hull will plane with lower HP, but it can be hard in certain conditions due to lack of “V”.
The 6.8 is the next mould up & is a completely different hull to the 6.4.

The 585 is a stretched 5.5!
